When to cheer for the Hawkeyes?

Never!!

I admit that I'm a bit torn. I want to hate the Hawkeyes at all costs, but is there a point when I should actually cheer for them? For instance, the Huskers will be insufferable if they win. And who wouldn't like to see the Buckeyes crushed? Or take down a top SEC team?

At some point, as much as I hate to admit it, I think it is good for the whole state for the Hawkeyes to do well (and worse for the state if they have a high profile choke like us in BB last year). I'm just not sure what that point is. I don't think I can cheer for them unless they do make it to the playoff. At that point, a win is good for the state, even if it makes Hawk fans even more insufferable. But who can handle them being even more insufferable? I may give myself a ban for even considering it.

Is is there a point when any of you will cheer for the Hawkeyes?

The older I get, the harder it is for me to "hate" anyone as far as athletics go. Which is of course different than not cheering for a team, I'm just saying. I know a lot of Hawkeye fans that rooted for Iowa State basketball because they liked Fred and the Cyclones were fun to watch. I respect Kirk Ferentz and from what I have seen, Beathard can do some fun things, although I would never describe the team as exciting.

I guess I would root for them over Nebraska, Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Florida. But not Clemson or a Big 12 team.

I also don't live in Iowa, so there's that.

I was truly cheering for Iowa State on Saturday.

The hate in this thread is amazing. You are comparing a fellow board of regents school to an organization of hate and killing.

You folks need to back away from the ledge.

Yes I am.. What a great story and how exciting for them. Three games away from being in the playoff, and not one game that I dont think they can or will win.

When they play the cornhuskers. That's about it. My hate for the huskers pre-dates my hate for the hawkeyes.

I just try to ignore them but it never fails every weekend when I'm wearing my gear random hawk fan feels they can come up to me and talk smack - I won't root against them but certainly won't root for them.

I am die hard Cyclone but I always want Iowa to win if they aren't playing us

All I can say is that I picked the perfect year to move out of Iowa. Dont have to listen to the bias media, dont have to listen to delusional Iowa fans, dont have to hear the Kirkwood students whine about how they dont get national respect.

On the down side, Im far away from Hilton.

It's pretty funny. If every team ion the nation had Iowa's schedule, we would have a lot of unbeaten teams.

I just moved to Denver this year too, you gonna go down and see Larry at some CSU games? Good luck with the blizzard tonight!

**** the University of Iowa. **** every single bit of it other than the Carver School of Medicine. **** their team, **** their ***-holes fans and **** the media in Iowa. And if I have to: **** "good for the state" since I live in Minnesota. You think those ****in' hawks will be cheering for us to go to the Final Four?????????

Oh, and last but not least, **** the Gophers for not beating them.

Go Huskers!

Nice rant Boxster, that was a quality paragraph you put up.

Never for me. I try to stay pleasant for the hawk fans I know, but if they start talking ****, it goes down hill fast with me, and I'll cut them with every comment I can think of.
