When OSU comes to Ames

I suppose I'm taking the moral highroad here, but I just don't see the value of berating a 19 year old kid. He didn't do anything to you. He didn't do anything to your friends or family. You may not like the way he plays basketball but I don't think that necessitates 14,000 people hurling insults at him.

My thought is that Orr probably didn't drop the N word on him, but that another fan in the general area did and Smart reacted to who he thought said it. Doesn't make it right but that seems most likely from what both sides have said about the incident.
 
Wow we have a bunch of soft fans nowadays. Students need to let him have it, who cares if he "served his time already" or not. Just because we rip on him doesn't mean we can't honor our seniors as well.
 
I feel bad for the kid. He is obviously cracking under the pressure and his coach is doing nothing to help him. He shouldn't have pushed the guy but it was in the heat of the moment and if he thought the guy said a racial slur than I totally understand. Fans shouldn't be allowed to say and do whatever they want. These are college kids and he is a grown man
I hope the fans don't do anything stupid when he comes to Hilton. Make fun of him for flopping or whatever but don't bring this incident into it.

I agree on this one. I hope we are classier than Tech.

Instead of putting our focus on Smart, hope we can put focus on our graduating seniors.

Honoring our seniors and getting in Floppy McFlopperson's head are not mutually exclusive. If an ISU player does something as stupid as what he did on Saturday you can be guaranteed that he will hear about it in every Big 12 venue that he plays in after that. Why should Hilton be any different?

Smart is in a tailspin and I don't have any problem with Cyclone fans at Hilton pushing him over the edge as long as they don't cross the line. What kind of break do you think he is going to get from fans in NBA arenas next year? Reminding him of his actions and pointing out his flopping are not over the line. Talking about his family or calling him racist names are over the line.

I agree that any pictures of Orr (other than Johnny and Bobby) can be construed to link ISU to that asshat in Lubbock/Waco. Please don't go there.
 
How about something along the lines:
Thank you Ejim for being BOOK SMART, not FLOP SMART. Or something that is actually creative.
