Whats your major, first job ect.

Finance degree. Graduated 2001. First job was at the Federal Reserve making $33,000. I had lots of days off and good benefits, those were the only good things about it.

First IT job was with Mercy Hospital in Janesville, WI. Paid very well, lots of paid overtime and mileage. Paid around 38k base. I wish I was still there. I would probably be making double that by now. Grrr.

Biochem...followed by about 10 more years of "higher" education...I started getting paid about half way through, about 30k a year, and I just calculated my per hour pay, yikes...

First Degree was from ISU in Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (if your in get out!) and made $22,000 a year right out of college working about 70 hours a week. Then went back to school 3 months later to get an accounting degree from ISU. 1 1/2 years later landed a job at Principal for $33,000 starting. HRIM at ISU is a very fun major and classes are not that challenging. There is a reason that you won't make much pay when you get out.

Psychology Grad in '02. First job was playing minor league baseball for about $650/mo plus whatever I could make on the side doing clinics, camps, radio, and working on friends and families houses. Gave that up and got a job as a credit analyst around 36k.

Graduated in Fall '96 in Civil Engineering. First job was working part-time for a company that eventually extended an offer for a permanent job when I had full-time offer from another company. Started at $38k for Company A, where Company B was only offering $29k and I would have had to drive to downtown Phoenix.

Note: I moved to AZ with my wife (then fiance) who had a received an offer from Motorola after school, therefore, I didn't have a job right away until I moved down there and looked around.

Political Science graduated in Fall '98, first job was in DSM for an insurance company....to say I loathed working there really doesn't begin to describe my feelings.

Graduated in 2001 in Ag Studies. Went to work for a company in SW Kansas. $33,000, good pay but had to live in a hell hole with tons of K-State fans.

Now I am back in the hometown (kinda sucks) but took over the family farm. Really good pay right now.

Graduated spring of 2006 in Finance. First job was at a commercial real estate appraising company for $34,000/yr. Absolutely hated it after six months, then went to banking and became a loan officer and I love it!

CprE 2000. My senior year I had an internship with a company in Ames that develops a Java VM for embedded systems, and I stayed on there after graduation. Started at $45k.

MIS degree from ISU fall 2002. Started work for ADP at the university in June 2003 as a Programmer/Analyst, started at 39k. Still here, but department is now ITS and I am a DBA. Working on a Masters in Information Systems.

Major: Journalism and Mass Communication with and emphasis in Electronic Media (Broadcast).

First Job: Assistant General Manager of Cyclone Hockey...

Now: Working in the Media and Public Relations department of USA Hockey, the national governing body of ice hockey in the united states and also in charge of all of the U.S. National Hockey Teams....you can't make money in sports. They just pay you enough to live off of...maybe.

marketing degree. then built houses for the next 5 years. finally got into sales. made more money building houses then starting out in sales, but down the road i think this will be a lot better

Can't spell "geek" without "double e".

Elec Eng, though I told the ladies I was El Ed ... went a little something like this:

x: "so whats your major?"
