What will ISU be ranked?

I get it, but realistically, that's too high. Getting into Iowa at #2 in FB area I think.

We have an overachieving, good BBall team that has a been a joy to watch, but I'm not going to kid myself that they are Top 10 caliber. Would love to be wrong (as I often am).

I agree with what you are saying but there aren’t many undefeated teams left and we have a pretty reasonable resume. Only place to put us is that high when you think about it. Who knows what happens the next 2/3 of the season but right now it’s justified.

I would not go that far, Iowa football was luck. A total fluke.

This is just us projecting limited upside against an elite conference schedule, although it is tough not to look at the roster and how they're playing, and think they are only one player off.

If the Big 12 were not the clear top conference with zero bad teams, I think the team is good enough to be a tourney lock. But you could be top-30 and still struggle to get enough wins if some bounces go against you.

Saw a bit of the KU/Mizzou game this weekend. Kansas looks huge this year. Baylor's length has always given us fits even when we had our "world beater" hoiberg teams. WVU never been an easy out either.

Will be a lively conference season for sure.

That ranking has nothing to do with what will happen next week or the week after or the month after. It’s based on our resume so far this year. And based on that we definitely deserve the ranking. It’s not complicated.

I understand what you are saying but the difference is when we beat someone with a pulse it isn't an accident i.e. four turnovers inside your own 30 or an injury to starting QB(Penn State). For some reason outside of Grambling the guys have a hard time beating some of these lower teams by more than 10. But they beat Iowa by 20.....Xavier by 12.....Memphis by 19(should have been 30).....go to Creighton, shoot like the Jackson State game and come out with a win. Creighton just thumped a good BYU team and I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Nova Friday. This isn't all smoke and mirrors.

Would love to hear the rationale of Mr. Like DeCock’s ranking of Illinois and San Francisco while leaving us unranked.
I think it all comes down to KenPom for ISU. He uses SOR for being a rationale for ranking SF (they are #14 SOR), yet ISU is #2 in SOR. KenPom is the only thing where ISU isn't really high, so that has to be the reason. Which of course is dumb.

Maybe he's using that braindead ESPN BPI, which has three teams that iSU beat head-to-head significantly higher than ISU. I don't know what goes into BPI, but it fails the basic test of models. If you can look at reality, and your model fails to reflect it, your model is junk.

When you have a significantly better record than say Memphis and Iowa, destroy them head-to-head, and your model has those teams well ahead of you, it's time to flush the BPI model and start over.

We haven't just won every game, we've won every game comfortably. None of our games have come down to the wire. Creighton was a 6+ point game the final 10 minutes. Alabama State got a bit close but we pulled away.

The best sign of a good team is blowing out your opponents - we've done that.

Am I seeing that right? There are six SEC teams ranked this week? Looks like these voters forgot this was basketball and not football ;)

The SEC is easily the 2nd best conference in the country and they have been building towards that for a few years. I can't get over how down the ACC is this year.
