I believe Akers has already planned on leaving.

I hope to see Allen try it out another year, as I do think being the feature TE would be good on the resume.

For almost all players, if I'm not a sure thing in the NFL, I'd prefer sticking around knowing that next years team will be competing for a Natty.

That being said, I don't know how those conversations would work with every player. What do you say if your Campbell and Assalley asks to come back? Sure, but you aren't getting your scholarship back?
