What is your state the worst at?

I don't agree with a number of these. Indiana? Really the least green state? Have they ever been to Nevada? Unless they are meaning green as in environmental and then I would think New Jersey would be right there. Actually Iowa is the most developed state in the nation in the sense of land being used.

I would think that Washington should be serial killers. I've heard before that there are more serial killers in Washington at any one time than in all the states combined. I mean Washington had one instance of bestiality go public and they passed a law against it, not so sure that is more embarrassing than have more people killing other people.

I know I'm thinking to much into this but I'm just saying.

Not ironic, more cause and effect. California has about 32 million registered vehicles of approximately 230 million in the US. About one of every 7 vehicles in the US is in California. This results in a lot of air pollution and this ratio has for years. More air pollution means they slapped on stringent emissions standards.

Not to mention, with the major cities being west of the mountains, all of that air pollution gets trapped on top of the cities, making a bad situation worse.

No way does North Dakota have the ugliest residents. I've been there a few times, its filled with tall blond women of Scandanavian descent. Seriously, when 50% of the employees at a Cabela's are hot, something good is going on.

Michigan...oh, poor Michigan.

Also, is it ironic that California has the most stringent emissions requirements but has the highest level of air pollution?

No, the reason they have such stringest emissions requirements is because they have such high air pollution and so many vehicles relative to other states.

Looks like I'm moving to Idaho after I graduate, as far as I'm concerned "Weakest Gov't Influence" belongs in the "What is your state best at?" map.

I thought this at first too, but then I realized they must mean Idaho's influence on the government, as in the gov't doesn't care about Idaho.

Perhaps some here are taking this map a bit to seriously? I'm guessing that something appearing on any particular state doesnt mean that state is worst in that way, just that it was the most notable negative about that state that was also unique within the rankings. In other words one state may actually have worse unemployment than Michigan (that was the one they used right) but there was either not a better one for Mich, or the other state did have one that was applicable so went with the other. Ok, now I've also overanalyzed this half assed thing. Its amusing and stimulates discussion, thats about it. :)

The link said cocaine use for the state I am currently a resident of.

I challenge the above answer. The correct answer has to be marijuana use. There are marijuana dispensaries every place you look in this state.

This

Utah's cracks me up. There's a lot of pent up angst in that state.

Keep beatin' that drum.

I don't think Iowa will change much. Farming is only getting more efficient. IMO there are no shortage of people in Iowa that would love to farm but just can't get into it.

As for these opportunities in Des Moines, where are you looking at Al_4_State?

Farming might be getting more efficient, but that does not mean management is becoming better. There are plenty of farms that are under performing for yield simply because the operator has to many acres. We don't need bigger farms, we need more farmers.

And you can get into farming if you really want to. You just have to find someone who will ween you onto it slowly.

Iowa gets off pretty light, I think.

Yup gonna necro-thread this because I found the picture on facebook and it made me laugh. So it doesn't have to be rehashed, each state is labeled with a "bad" thing it has more of than any other state.

Here it is again for those that didn't see it before the original was lost

And for a contrast here's the "good" thing each state has more of than any other.
