She has struggled pretty all of the Big 12 season this year. Lots of turn-overs, few points, getting into foul trouble too often, too much dribbling, too slow to guard opposing guards from driving into the lane...

Well, perhaps the other teams know our style of play …

Maybe it's time to get get some fresh ideas in the program and let some of the assistants move on. Same strategy thru the years with our offense IMHO. Idk.

No idea but she looks confused - maybe switching offenses to accommodate add/loss of Soares has been too much. Incessant dribbling and lack of scoring has made her pedestrian at best. If Ryan and Donarski are what we have next year as core we are in deep . Fritz is tough but needs help on boards. Crooks will be a frosh and limited. We may wish for this season next year! Lexi is capable but needs another scorer - Fritz May be it. Nobody else shows ability yet! Hope they find themselves. Course playing entire game is not helping. Weak bench has killed them all year!

You'd think the offense would have just went back to what they ran last year before Soares.

Yes that would sound reasonable. But I remember what Geno said one time when one of his teams wasn't performing like they had the year before but it was essentially the same players. He said, "Just because you have the same players back doesn't necessarily mean you will have the same team." So sometimes players regress. And I believe that coaches can regress as well.

And as you and I have discussed…ISU has two former 1st team all conference players who have regressed dramatically…especially on offense.

I feel like we are wasting a lot of talent this year. Emily, Lexi, and Ashley rarely leave the court. At this phase of the season, that has to negatively affect their performance. I don’t understand the reluctance to play Maggie more. She was once a valuable rotational player. The lack of minutes and injuries seems to have really hurt her development. Unfortunately that ship has likely sailed this late in the year.

We run so much half court offense now. By default Emily is stuck dribbling a lot. We used to get out and run some and hit some threes in transition. That rarely happens now. I not sure what changed.

Ash use to go to the line almost every time she was touched or she went to the ground. She doesn’t get those calls as often now. This hurts our offensive efficiency as compared to years she spent half the game at the FT line.

Lexi was made into the defensive stopper, but it seems to have really hurt her offensive development. As a freshman she looked like a totally different offensive player. She looked like she could one day be the focus of the offense. One thing I dislike is that Bill seems to have these predetermined roles for players and it seems to slow player development unless you are the one player that is the focus of his offense.

Fritz has really improved as this season has progressed, I like her mental toughness and I hope she plays a bigger role going forward. She offers a lot at both ends of the court.

Losing Soares was huge obviously, but then also losing Jordao made the loss that much impactful. Kane and Jordao were solid last year, but Kane by herself this year forces us to play really small a lot now and it puts us at a disadvantage often.

With the talented players we have coming in next year and Ashley leaving, I hope Bill makes some changes in tempo we play at and how many players are in the rotation. It will be very different for him not having Bridget or Ash.

Not sure whether I buy into her having some sort of regression. However, I have to think that she spent the off-season preparing for a very different role for this year. And that all changed when we lost Jordao and Soares.

One more thing that has been eating at me. This team is not very mentally tough, maybe Ash, Fritz are exceptions. But the others, a missed/bad call or missing shots causes many on the team to lose composure. It impacts silly fouls and the next several plays. That is on the coaches to address.

I have to disagree with quite a few of your points.
1. time on court. This is year three for Donarski and Ryan playing nearly the same number of minutes. They are used to it. It’s rare for any star players on any team to rest unless (a) they are in a blowout or (b) they have really good bench players (like Baylor in the past)
2. M&M needs more playing time. She has struggled all year regardless of playing time. Coach Fen says she’ll playing hurt. That’s not going to change.
3. The offensive sets are pretty much the same that we've seen the last few years. The biggest difference is we aren’t hitting the three ball as in past years. This has hurt in many ways.
4. completely agree that Ashley isn’t getting calls she used to get. Officiating is very spotty in women’s basketball. But…yesterday she was having a bad shooting day and got to the line for something like 15 attempts.
5. being a defensive stopper shouldn’t slow any offensive development. It’s not like they pulled her aside in practice and said “all your reps are going to be playing defense…no offense for you!” (That’s my parody of the soup nazi). She shot quite well last year. She and Ryan are both shooting worse this year.

Assume that's tempo? We aren't likely to see anything change much next year. The only change from what we ran 25 years ago is that we don't play zone as much. If we shoot the three better next year we'll be okay. If we shoot like this year we'll be around the middle of the pack. We will still be taking 25 plus threes a game, just like this year. Going to be a big need for the freshman to step into big roles immediately and for our senior guards to step up. We should be no worse than middle of the pack though and probably in the upper 6 in a still down league.

I think anyone who has followed them women has seen this coming. Both her and Lexi have to be gassed and I wouldn't be surprised if they are nursing injuries.

She played 40 against Tech when we won by 23 points. She played 35 minutes against TCU in a game we won by 28 points. She played 36 minutes in a game we won by 31 against Michigan State. She played all 40 minutes against Iowa when we were well out of the game in the 4th quarter.

Bill hasn't exactly done a great job managing her minutes and she looks a step slow and tired. That's where the fouls come in.

We don't hit 3s as well.
We have always dribbled too much IMO
Ashley has always forced shots and won't kick it out.
Danarkski has been blocked from getting to basket like she used to.
Agree about assistants but it's not changing.
Jr could be the recruiter but limited coaching.
Don't know what Shaben does.
Kane plays better than I ever thought she could.
Bench hasn't developed. Maybe not given a chance?

After reading this I will attempt to guess this team's record.

3-24 (1-16).

Am I close?
