Iowa State manages to knock off Baylor or TCU. Does CPR earn another year?

While I'd never root against my clones I can't help but thinking if CPR pulls one of these out of his arse we get stuck with another year of this BS.

If I were Pollard? I'm guessing he stays. If I'm me? He still goes.
That's a bingo. After all, beating TCU or Baylor means our program is on the rise, big things to come. Just like when we beat OSU...

Depends on what that would do for the rest of the year. That starts a stretch where we win 4+ more games? Sure, If that's the only other game we win, no

I think if we win, that probably leads to a couple more if not 6 total so probably yes. I see no way we somehow beat one of them and lose out.

Agreed. If we nip a BIG one (TCU, Baylor) and then look competitive the rest of the way, maybe even winning a few of them, I might invite him back.

A fluke where TTU-que results keep coming afterwards, then, yeah, probably not.

Thanks for one last great memory in that case, though, to cement your positive-though-flawed legacy at ISU for all-time for the fan base.

If beating TCU is part of getting to 6 wins. Sure. If beating TCU is a fluke and we finish the season with 3-4 wins. Nope.

We beat #2 Oklahoma State and finished out with three straight losses to Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Rutgers

There aren't any gimmes on the schedule left

Nope - not unless he strings wins together. And by stringing wins together I don't mean a string of 2 wins a year or 3 wins a year!

Only way he stays for me is to go 7-5 in the regular season and win the bowl game.

otherwise, he gone

This is where I'm at, although I might accept 2-3 more wins. I'm worried our AD will use this as an excuse to keep the current regime in power. The thought of another guaranteed dumpster fire season is sickening.

If I was Pollard, I would have demanded wholesale assistant coaching changes after the Liberty Bowl.
that was almost 3 years ago. Do you believe me now? Harbaugh = good coach. You can tell if a coach is worth his salt after three years certainly. We got Liberty Bowl after, what?, 4 years. It still baffles me that people did nor react more uniformly to the absolute capitulation and utter incompetence of that bowl performance.

You're right, but at Iowa State the expectation level is low. Going to a low tier 6-6 bowl equates to a successful season and a satisfied fan base without regard to the bowl outcome. The more sub .500 seasons we have, the more true it is.

I think you are spot on, I posted about the same in another thread. JP wants any excuse to keep CPR and save $$. A win over TCU would prob be enough, esp if they look competitive the rest of the way and/or win another game.

At this point, he needs 3 more wins regardless of who it's against to even have a conversation about being retained for next year.
