What do we do with an open scholly?

You don't recruit a guy so his dad can give you money. That's incredibly unethical - in fact it's the same as paying a recruit to come here, only in reverse.

If I were MJ and I thought a school were doing this, I'd be seriously pissed.
 
My 14 y/o HS freshman just texted me from lunch; his people tell him ISU has offered Marcus Jordan, as have Nebraska and two other majors.

I replied that I think he's mistaken, but wanted to get it posted just in case he's right so he'll have beaten cyismydog to the scoop! :)
 
I'm more of a hockey guy, but I have also heard that MJ has been offered a scholarship....

cyismydog, how is his defense, could he become more of a specialist his first couple years while he works on other parts of his game?
 
I have watched Jordan play a couple of times on TV, very strong and very athletic. I could see him developing into a Levance Fields type guard... He is very streaky as a shooter...

I agree, and with all do respect Cyismydog I think Marcus is a Big 12 player. He has the body for it, and he can play D and attack the rim. I agree his jumper is bad, but over 4 years that can improve and he could become a solid player. I mean Stanford, Miami, Oklahoma, and Arizona State aren't mid major schools and they are all after him.

We should have 2 schollies after next year if (god willing) Craig is there and leaves and Gilstrap will be done. Not to mention when is the last time no one has transfered or left.

His brother doesnt do to bad for Ill and Marcus is suppose to be better.

I don't know for sure, but I think it is going to get used to help cushion the impact of Brackins leaving, if he decides that is best for him...which means we are probably going after a 3 or 4. Brackins' scholarship will be used for HB(or a suitable replacement).
 
kg- what's the likelyhood of us actually landing Barnes though??? It's a dream, but IMO, I'm not sure it's much more than just that.

You just helped prove my point again. If somebody says something that you disagree with you cry.

If the coaches know that Brackins is for sure to leave, than we need to use the scholly this year. Otherwise I think we should bank it.

I mean Kelm has been wanting to committ to Iowa State for months now!!! :biglaugh:
