What a Prius is good for

prius haters are idiots. I mean, in this day and age of sending over billions of dollars to the middle east while our soldiers are getting killed by the weapons our gas money buys, some people are foolish enough to hate on cars that get over 40 mpg. Truly, some people just don't get it.
I don't think people hate the Prius because it gets 40mpg, I think most hate it because it is a god awful ugly car. I'd be all over a car that got 40mpg and didn't look stupid.

Prius's are good because they help save the earth from global warming. Global warming is when greenhouse gases from cars driven by mean people get trapped in the atmosphere and then it gets hotter. My 4th grade teacher taught me this and told me my parent's are mean people.
A Prius's exhaust pipe has daisies coming out of it. People who do not drive Prius's are racists and like to kill babies of southwest asian people of color.
Prius's will save this planet from mean people. A person who drives 30,000 miles a year in a Prius to attend Caucus rallies, political meetings, million-mom marches, Coldplay concerts, and other protests does more to save the planet than some hick Iowan who drives his SUV 10,000 miles a year. My 4th grade teacher didn't do the math on that, but she told me so.
The oil that gets changed out of my Prius is drank by unicorns and the used tires off my Prius are used for cushions for fairies when they slide down rainbows and land in the forest. See, it is Sustainable, Recyclable, and Green. Me and my 4th grade teacher are better than you.

And if wasn't a chintzy piece of crap. The fit and finish of those things make Detroit's offerings look like Bentleys.

Congratulations for winning the Non-Sequitur Post of the Day AND the Grammatical Trainwreck Post of the Day. Kudos to you sir!

The problem I have with them is that I think a lot of people that are buying them are just out to make a statement (similar to Hummer owners).

I think Jay Leno said it best. Look at what he has to say at 6:07 into this video.

Officially nominated for Post of the Week.

Funny clip. We need more humor like this in todays world.:notworthy:

The guy prefers a diesel and if you've ever driven one, you'll know why.

Just like the south park episode: Prius owners may help reduce the smog, but they add to the "smug". Everybody I know that bought a Prius with political motivation is self-righteous jerk!

Just like the video said, if you're interested in fuel economy, go by a VW Golf....you'll be way more satisfied with your purchase!

No thanks, the extra cost of gas is worth it for the added crash protection!

That's all well and good, except the Prius is just a bad car. And it doesn't get particularly good gas mileage compared to traditional diesels, for instance.

Jetta TDI? Gets around 50 mpg and costs right around 20k.

Those don't look particurlarly bad. The passenger compartment appears to remain intact in all of those. The front of the car is supposed to do that when it gets hit. All modern cars do that.

And don't forget the extra ton of batteries that the Prius lugs around. It literally makes each Prius an ecologically disastrous toxic waste dump.

If you just ran it on the engine, and ditched the weight of the batteries, it would probably get around the same gas mileage. The Echo did, and my '88 Corolla routinely got 36-39 mpg.

I shouldn't even post in this thread... We have a prius and love it. That being said we drive primarily in the city where a small car is really a huge advantage, especially when you have to parallel park everywhere. We drive back to Iowa from NYC a couple times a year (we have two dogs so flying is not an option) and have managed to only have to fill up the tank once halfway through. When you're on a budget, and your end of year bonus has just been nixed it is nice to have never put more than $40 in gas in your vehicle...

We also have a Prius and we love it. Great economy and rides great.

There must be a lot of sheeple out there for people to even consider purchasing a Prius.

I still get a good laugh from people who worry about how cool their car looks. They are also usually the same people who are making a $500 plus car payment.

So, if you buy a Prius, you get an ugly car AND a $500 plus car payment.

Sweeeet....

Thanks, but I'll stick with my 30 mpg $800 '95 Buick LeSabre.
