Weight Training

You have to understand what 35 reps means to some people. Some people do 3 inch lifts off their chest with their arms clear out to the side and they count that as a rep.

I was a little surprised what they let them get away with at the combine. Many of those "reps" aren't full reps. They aren't locking out.

From what I've seen, I think McGettigan all about injury prevention and flexibility in his weight training. In the future, I hope the coaches focus on more critical areas, such as explosion and muscle groups that are important to players based on position.

LOL, this guy doing 35 reps at 225 is for sure joking. especially if he weighs 180. that's prolly the most ridiculous claim i've heard in a while. I hope it was meant as a joke. 35+ reps are the very strongest Oline prospects coming out of college. For someone to even do more than a few weighing 180 would be impressive

many times, including at the combine, they bounce the weight off of theirs chests too. which is not a legal lift by competition standards and adds alot more advantage than you might think. a legal lift you have to pause on your sternum.

Notice I didn't refer at all to bench pressing- lol. Anybody should be able to squat 225 35 times- which sure aint bragging. Jeesh, I never new I'd take a lashing for that! :sad9cd:

Anyway, I was in weight training and amount of weight and number of reps totally depends on how you train. I use to to low weight and lots of reps so it was easier to do mass repetitions but I was never able to max bench as much "the next guy".

So basically what I'm saying is that a big "high caliber" type O-lineman may not trained for the big reps and more than likely is the high maxer for the big push.

Let me hear it!:biggrin9gp:

Oh, and for those that care- some people are made for bench pressing. At one competition I was at a kid in the 135lb class put up over 300lbs to win his weight class- what was crazy about that was not that it was over 2 times his weight but that he had to have been about 5'10". The leanest yet freakishly strongest person I've seen.:baffled5wh:
