Weather forecast for UNI game

Sure, it could be close, but ask any meteorologist and they'll tell you that anything very far beyond 3 days is an educated guess.
Correct, it's an educated guess. And 12 days out, the meteorologists are guessing it's going to be a pretty warm afternoon.

That was a crazy day. Was a little toasty during tailgate then you could see the storm building in the West as the game started. Got a good downpour and everyone huddled under the overhang on the concourse and the rain stopped but the lightning would not go away. We were checking the radar on our phones and could tell the front was just sitting on top of us and was backbuilding in the West still so we made the call to head to the car and get out before the next round came. Just started heading south on South Dakota Ave and it just poured all the way home and heard on the radio they called the game so luckily made the right call to leave when we did.

Only 13 days to kickoff!

Should be a warm one with projected highs of 85-88 degrees and little chance for precip. A little too warm for me but sure beats the heat we're gonna see this week.

Start hydrating now.

But even meteorologists will agree predicting the forecast 12-13 days in advance will be inaccurate more times than it is accurate.

Define accurate. Will they nail the high temp on the nose? Very unlikely. Will they hit it within 3 degrees (+ or -)? I'm betting they will. Guess we'll find out in 12 days.

Predicting storms is difficult this far out. But predicting temperature trends is typically a bit more accurate. Might not be exact, but saying it’ll be in the mid-80’s vs the mid-90’s isn’t that much of a guess.

Within =/- 3 degrees? Not likely at all to be accurate 12-13 days out.

I've been planning to attend the MN state fair on opening day (this Thursday). I've been watching the forecast for a while for that day. A week ago, the forecasted high was 89. A few days later they bumped it up to 96. The current forecast for Thursday is 91.

Makes me curious, is there a database anywhere with game temperature records?

Fans have good memory of the most extreme heat/chill games, but it's informal.
While it wouldn't be game time temp, farmer almanacs have the historical temperature records of the day. Mine said that first week of September tends to be hot in the 80s or isolated thunderstorms.

Time and date's 14 day forecast has Ames getting a 50% of rain for September 2nd. Wouldn't be a lot though.

As a fan sitting in the stands for 4 hours, I'd take a high of 80 with intermittent showers over a high of 88 with lots of humidity any day.

I still have PTSD from 2018. So, politely, f*ck that sh*t with wooden spoon.

It was 15. That's the only time in my life that I've gotten sick because of the heat. Couldn't get enough Gatorade and water down after the walk back to the car.
Was that the David Johnson game?

Can't speak to your personal situation but 2013 was the hotter game. And I'll have to correct my earlier posts, because actually that was the hottest home game in ISU history. I'm not sure if that record has since been beaten.

From the 2013 game recap on cyclones.com:
Temperature at kickoff was 92 degrees, the warmest kickoff temperature in Jack Trice Stadium history.

Kickoff at ISU/UNI in 2015 was 88. I had to find that in the UNI game notes because they're missing from cyclones.com.
