Weather for Memphis

This far out, forecasts aren't worth ****. Heck, the meteorologist in my neck of the woods has a low confidence for his forecast for this coming weekend.

Yeah, I always do that crap a couple weeks before I go on my annual fishing trip to Canada. Honestly, with more that 5-7 days out the weather forecast is a total WAG. Usually if it shows that it is going to be great weather, I know to pack extra heavy stuff.

I was in Canada a few weeks ago and the forecast a couple weeks before I left said like -10 as a high with lows in the -30s. The closer it got the warmer the forecast was and when I got there is 0 out!! As in Celsius not Fahrenheit. So it really was warm for them.

Wunderground.com has it at 37 degrees for the high with 33 degrees at kickoff. Partially sunny with light wind. Precipitation in the late afternoon.

Accuweather has now updated it closer to this. Calling for high of 35 and possible Snow Flurries. 26 mph wind gusts too.

Yep, now wunderground.com has downgraded it to a high of 34 with 31 at kickoff. However, they say mostly sunny with 8 mph wind from the north. I've upgraded my thermal base layer and bought a new down filled parka (red). Got the hand and feet warmer packs. Have my insulated boots and socks, etc., etc. Should be pretty comfortable even sitting in those conditions.

A little disappointing but wont ruin the fun. Surely we Iowans aren't afraid of some relatively cold weather.

NWS discussion from Memphis (http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/Global/category.asp?C=122932):

issued 544 AM CST Fri Dec 22 2017
...
Below normal temperatures will continue through much of next week
as another storm system attempts to spread moisture back over the
colder airmass from next Wednesday through the end of next week.
There remains very large model spreads and resultant uncertainty
in the eventual forecast for this period.
For now, it appears
possible that some winter weather could occur across portions of
the Mid South with colder temperatures persisting. This forecast
will be refined through the coming days as model guidance locks
into a solution and forecast confidence increases. Continue to
monitor the latest forecasts between Christmas and New Years
weekends as there could be possible impacts to travel if winter
weather occurs. Stay tuned.

So...probably below average temperatures for sure, but wind/rain/snow/etc no idea as yet.

AccuWeather says 44 and sunshine. Projected high 6 degrees below average. For perspective, Oklahoma St. game was 40 degrees and overcast. We always want "warm weather teams" in blustery conditions. Looks like we are getting our wish!
Well, so far this year, Memphis has played in a tropical storm with 30mph winds. In a oppressively hot day where the stadium ran out of water by halftime. Several games in the rain and wind. We are making the joke that this game will be the final shot to the gut by Mother Nature this season. The weather has not been nice to us all season, so don't think that this time is going to be a negative in the players minds.

Pack warmly CyclONEnation. Not going to be a mild retreat. Memphis looks to be riding the edge of the big arctic air intrusion. The edge is normally where some disturbances ride through. But at this point, it appears we'd be between waves to create that.

My way too early prediction. I'd say morning temps in the upper 20s at this point with highs in the upper 30s. Mainly clear to partly cloudy.

I can handle a bit of cold, just keep the winds down and keep me dry! (other than the booze:))

Oh like you know anything about weather!

If anybody is wanting to drop tickets I know someone who will take them off your hands for free if you work on packing for him. ;)
