*** WBB vs. Oklahoma State (Wed., 6:30) ***

Not sure but I think the next game is gold rules, the students will get a nice collection of shirts if the A.D keeps this up

Audi has improved significantly on positioning her left shoulder and left arm to inhibit defenders from affecting her shot.
She's also making her move before catching the ball. By the time she catches it, the defender is already pinned behind her. Her footwork and ball handling have improved so much in the last month. Good coaching and playing.

Does anyone else feel like the Big 12 officials have no idea how to officiate Audi? I mean she's on the floor constantly (I get that she trips sometimes) but, never gets calls and she seems to get bumped when she goes to the basket and doesn't get to line nearly as much as she should.
Thoughts??
My wife had a similar thought. Players can shove her as much as they want because she doesn't move very much when they do. Imagine if it was Bristow or Diew, shoves Audi receives would throw them across the floor.

She caught one pass one handed while the other arm was being held. The book on her is definitely foul as much as you can get away with, because it likely won’t be called. That one wasn’t, even though she pulled her arm free in order to make the layup.

It's a two edged sword if you want to get nitpicky on her calls. Not as much recently but she gets away with her own fair share of just pushing her opponent out of the way with her body after the opponent has position. The sort of play that Cyclone fans would cry about when Courtney Paris used to do it. I don't have much of an issue with ref calls pro or con with Crooks. Seriously, zero beef.

Reminds me of some guy surprising 18-year old me at State gym decades again saying that skinny 5'-9" me was fouling him by trying to put a body on him. "That's a foul, man!". Guy was half again heavier than me. The fact he would even say that stills stuns me 50 years later.

I think you are correct, Refs don't see the bump because she doesn't move so, they don't believe much of a bump took place so they don't call anything.

Not sure how to fix that though.

I couldn't believe that play wasn't called. She must be allowed to catch the ball.

I hear you about her pushing in there too and it is a double edged sword with that but, I think other teams try to be uber physical with her because up until now it hasn't been called even close to correctly!

No better example than the other night. 29pts and she gets to the line once?? Come on?

Box I agree with what you posted, my problem though is it feels like officials are looking at the play and saying "she a big girl so not to much contact" when she is shooting. Then they go and call a minor touch on a guard out front. My issue is if it is a foul call it defense or offense.

As Bill mentioned, officiating Audi will be a lot like officiating Courtney Paris when she first started.

My personal assumption is that Audi won't really start getting the benefit of the doubt until probably late next year, once she's more "established" in the conference.

That reminds me of Welle, who took charges and got other calls early in her career, but didn’t get the same calls once everyone knew her game better. You definitely have to keep expanding your game, because there is little objectivity in officiating.

This times a million. I'm willing to live with some offensive foul calls if they would just call the contact (one way or the other) when she goes to the hoop.

Hope you're right and it gets better with time, not about to hold my breath though

I like this image.

It shows Audi doing something I thought she did not do much of-Jump!

Maybe only six to eight inches but that does open her shot options near the basket with that additional (surprise!) push upward against tall players.

No reason to, but I hope she never transfers to a future opponent!

Why tempt fate with such a statement?

Also, who is in your profile photo? It looks like a cross between Samuel Clemens and Old Hoss Radbourn. Bare knuckle boxer maybe?
