It appears the redshirt junior Center has already visited Ames. Could be a big addtion. As Stansbury said, former teammate of Bowe.

From Brandon Clay on Twitter-

BREAKING:

Talked to RS Jr. Post Kendall Shaw. She'll graduate from Vandy w/immediate eligibility. Visited Iowa St.

Its the first time Breaking News has ever been for someone who averaged 2 points a game.

She may have two years remaining -- she sat out 13-14 with an injury, then sat out much of 14-15 with another injury. She only played in 8 games (all in the first half) in 14-15, so she'd be eligible for a medical hardship if she can petition the NCAA for a 6th season. They almost always grant 6th season waivers for players that miss two seasons with injuries.

If she's looking to get a masters degree, having an athletic scholarship pay for it in full is a pretty nice deal.

I'd say she'd make a good back up at least. We need more size. Though line up next year will be interesting. I see both Seanna and Bowe starting.

To put numbers on something a lot of people have said above:

Post players played an average of 44.2 minutes per game last season.
We lost 14.1 of those minutes (Fernstrom and Baier).
Mere will probably up her contribution from 22 to around 28 per game (she averaged less than that even in games after Bry left), but there's still another 16 or so minutes per game (minimum) to be split among Ricketts and Konate.

Ricketts could provide some production, but she's still somewhat raw and tends to get in foul trouble very quickly. Konate is a big question mark. Past experience indicates that Shaw should be able to play at Baier's level at minimum, and that by itself would be helpful.

I will gladly accept someone who wants to be at ISU, with a post player-type body, and with collegiate experience, regardless of how many potential minutes they might get, if it allows us some better depth at the 4 and 5 spots. Not everyone has to be an Angie Welle to fit into that position.

The entire class for next year, other then Bowe, is pretty much a Hail Mary pass so possibly adding another long shot is consistent. Not saying one of these passes won't be completed but I am not betting on it.
