WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

To tell the truth I don't know what would work to bring back a positive feel to this season. I am sure we will win a few more and get some NCAA bid.

But as to big wins and surprises, bad luck, injuries, and the old Iowa State jinks hinder WBB as Football and MBB seem to find their way.
Obviously the Soares injury was a major impact but the opportunity was/is there to finally win a conference title this season with no Top 10 team. The continued inability to beat BU and UT and lack of depth remain obstacles to a conference title.

In the Texas - Texas Tech game there were 52 fouls called (27 UT / 25 TTU) and Texas had three starters foul out. The teams combined to shoot 65 FT. Amazing what happens when official actually call the fouls.

#5 Iowa tied with #2 Indiana 39-39 at the half.

Another big WBB crowd. The Iowa, Indiana and Ohio State games have been some big draws.

Yeah, record crowd of 13,000. Rematch in two weeks in I.C. with a crowd that will probably be bigger than that especially since OSU will still be Top 5 in all probability.

Random thought over coffee:

No really good mid-majors like we've been accustomed to seeing. Our midwest teams like South Dakota State, South Dakota (free fell into NET 200+), Drake and UNI aren't anywhere near even "receiving votes". Some mids getting votes but not our regional gals.

NCAA had their first Top 16 reveal of hosting teams last night. No surprise that OU and ISU are out and the only Big 12 team in is Texas. Big Ten has five teams hosting, think that will end up being four since OSU has to play three ranked teams yet and they are #16 as sort of gift.

Seattle bracket looks really tough.

From ESPN:

The regional assignments are:

• Greenville Regional 1: 1. South Carolina, 2. Duke, 3. Maryland, 4. Ohio State

• Greenville Regional 2: 1. Indiana, 2. Utah, 3. Notre Dame, 4. Villanova

• Seattle Regional 1: 1.Stanford, 2. Iowa, 3. Texas, 4. North Carolina

• Seattle Regional 2: 1. UConn, 2. LSU, 3. Michigan, 4. Virginia Tech

Cowgirls crushing Baylor at halftime, 44-27.
I won't be surprised if Baylor doesn't go into a late season tailspin. They seem to have maxed their potential for all they have and it seems that 3 - 4 of their wins this year have simply been a matter of their opponent having their worst game of the season against them.

Maddy Siegrist of Villanova scored 50 points today while shooting 20-26 from the field in a win over Seton Hall.

That's amazing! I remember being so mad years ago when Lindsay Wilson scored close to 50 points against Colorado and ISU still lost.
