WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

New Ap poll has:

#2 Kansas State (overrated without Lee but I get the votes)
#11 Texas (about right)
#12 Baylor (too high based on how they have been playing)
#23 WVU (seems about right considering the weakness of the 20-25 bracket).

ISU fell out of the "receiving votes", no surprise there. OU is getting some votes, 6. The field is so weak that Princeton got #25 with only 28 votes.

We are 2-2 versus the Top 25 with three left (KSU 2 and @ Texas.

Iowa State didn't beat Iowa this year.
Your 7th message in almost 11 years - you Hawk fans slay me - the indignity of somebody suggesting ISU had a strong game plan vs EIU brings you out of hiding to "put them in their place". Thanks for your brilliant insight...

I fail to understand why Hawk fans flock to Cyclone Fanatic. I've never been on a Hawk board in my life because I don't care what they think about anything, but I guess CW benefits from the traffic.

Missed this till I saw it tonight in another forum. Texas freshmen star Madison Booker injured her hamstring in practice Friday. Texas had to have Shaylee Gonzales play point. Apparently they played zone versus Cinci on Saturday.

Not sure how long Booker is out. I am more familiar with MLB hamstring injuries, those always seem to be at least a couple of weeks and more like 3 weeks. Texas is at Baylor Thursday and will certainly be without Booker. Texas than plays KSU on Saturday. Not a great week to be without a star starter.

Injuries keep hitting teams:

My local Gophers season just augered in and any shot they had at March went poof. Mara Braun injured her foot coming down and landing on the opponents foot while Braun was shooting a three. Just had foot surgery and assuming she is gone till next year. She'd been struggling some but was still averaging 17.8 pts.

Lauren Betts for UCLA is out with an "undisclosed illness". Their coach Cori Close was very emotion about it and eluded to the team dealing with "things bigger than basketball". Yikes. No news on this other than that.

I didn't say anything disrespectful, I just corrected an error. You're right, I don't comment on here often and I guess if you look back on my history of commenting here you wouldn't find anything disrespectful.

The comment I was responding to was "OSU and Iowa State have shown the recipe to beat Iowa. I won’t be surprised to see them go down by the Sweet Sixteen." Which would imply that Iowa State beat Iowa. Kansas State would have been a better example, since they actually beat Iowa. Keeping a game close and eventually losing doesn't give a good game plan on how to beat someone. It give a good game plan on how to keep it close.

I do hop on here occasionally, as I enjoy the comments and I've really enjoy watching the women's team play. It's amazing to watch a young team come into form. They are fearless.

Didn't realize I had to have a specific comment tally to comment.

You may not show up on Hawkeye boards but there are plenty that do. Some respectful and some that aren't. I also go on to Boneyard and other team sites.

Duh nobody said they did, but laid out the game plan to stay right with them. Any team in the top 25 isn't scared of Iowa. Might not beat them but not scared of them.
This is the comment I was replying to: "OSU and Iowa State have shown the recipe to beat Iowa. I won’t be surprised to see them go down by the Sweet Sixteen." It certainly implies that Iowa State beat them. They didn't of course. They did have a good game plan to keep it close. A better example would have been Kansas State, who actually beat Iowa.

I am enjoying Iowa State Women's Basketball team round into form, they are fearless. Crooks is a force down low and Brown is amazing utility player that does alot extremely well!. I'm also happy to see Ryan on the floor again.

You weren't really correcting an error as the statement doesn't imply ISU beat EIU, plus your second paragraph is disrespectful / condescending considering where you are and who you’re addressing. But you do you…

Two Big 12 games tonight, with three bottom-feeders in action.

Cincinnati (2-6) at Houston (2-7)
UCF (1-7) at West Virginia (6-2)

I'd add in that it was a rivalry game with a big crowd at Hilton in December so it is not exactly a March scenario "recipe" where Iowa will be playing the opening two games in front of their own 15,000 fans.

If there is a recipe it would seem to be "have a really good defensive team" and try to get Iowa into a low scoring half court game. And than hope it's one of those games were Martin, Marshall and others sort of disappear and Clark feels she needs to shoot a thousand times. If I was looking for a game plan I'd look at the two games with KSU this year but only thee elite teams in March have posts as good as Ayoka Lee. But who knows, two years ago Creighton pee'd in both our cereal bowls when it seemed to be set up for one of our teams to be Elite Eight bound.

No reason Hawks can't post in this general WBB threads, it's supposed to be non-Cyclone or general stuff only tangentially related to Cyclone stuff. It's hard to find a board that's open for general WBB talk, Boneyard is a bit but it's still pretty east coast centric. Wish we had @undersized_post post more, he/she is really knowledgeable overall fan. Same for Baylor fan @geewago. We do have a subset of fans here that will attack ANY post by a rival but that's just their opinion. I did not start this general thread as a place to brawl, CF has a forum set aside for that.
