Way to Early Top 25

I found hope in the fact that Kim built a NC team from the portal. We've got a great recruit class coming in and could get a little help if we need it. This line is noteworthy, "Every team in this year's Sweet 16 except Iowa had at least one starter who was a transfer. And the top scorer for Colorado, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Utah was a transfer.". It's a new game, play it or lose out.

No surprise that ISU isn’t listed. They will have to prove themselves first. Texas and Baylor from the 12 make it with KSU and KU getting consideration.

KSU hopes are pinned to Ayoka Lee being healthy. KU’s rise is related to them winning the WNIT. Of course they got to play every game at home. They’ll play their typical soft pre-conference schedule and likely be highly-ranked going into the Christmas break.

Iowa may be a top-ten team in '23-'24. Without a few key players however (Monika Czinano and McKenna Warnock) and no big portal input they will not be what they were this year.

Clark is gifted but had a few gifts delivered that may not reoccur to make the upcoming season a little less Final Four-ish. Take for instance the last Indiana game where she got the inbound pass and hit the winning basket with fractions of seconds on the clock. Amazing yes, a sure thing no. With a few off games, and a lower seed, another Creighton is out there...as it is for many teams...and gunning to knock them off.

I don’t recall where I saw it (Facebook?), but somebody posted a graphic of four female LSU athletes and the NIL deals the school assisted them in acquiring. Two of the four were basketball players, and there’s no way ISU will ever compete with the $ cited. It’s the Wild West out there…

I think this will be more NIL battleground for perennial Top Ten teams and that includes LSU now. I am not sure it will change our general standing much. We've been a solid program just outside of the Top 25 for several decades. I expect we will stay about in that same position, just with more transfer both in and out than the old days.

Saw an interesting take on Stanford on another forum but couldn't access the newspaper article. From discussion, it really does impact them. And I don't care that it hurts one of the old guard elites one bit. They have always had their elite degree card to play but that works against transfers. School doesn't allow transfers in after sophomore year. The retired in place Tara is talking about reducing her roster size so everyone gets more PT. Not sure she is actually "getting it" yet.

Iowa is in a chance of a lifetime situation. So much publicity from the deep deep tournament run. Obviously they'll have NIL money to bring in the missing pieces. Probably get beat during the second weekend and feel extremely disappointed but that's the way CBB goes.

Predicting next years Big 12 WBB is about as easy as predicting the weather. TX once again has the potential to be the best but they haven't yet fared very well in this years transfer portal. Baylor on the other hand has loaded up from the portal and may even add one more. It remains to be seen if all these additions will equate to a championship. I feel that the best one they acquired was the PG from KY. She brings high caliber play to the floor. The others IMO have yet to prove themselves even though they were good players from where they came from, but you have have to wonder about the level of the competition they are used to. To me what makes BU the favorite is the return of Blackwell who was injured early last year. She has great potential. Was projected to be a first rounder in WNBA draft before her injury. But even more so the availability of Dre Edwards this year. She was the all SEC performer that wasn't allowed to play last year. Creme seems to be unaware she is even on the team. The coach is very likable and knowledgeable of the game. We shall see if the WNBA style of coaching works out well with this team.

Meanwhile TCU has hired IMO a very good coach. He is already robbing some decent players from the transfer portal . In a few years they may be a force to be reckoned with. A lot of other teams like Tech and OU are bringing in quite a few as well but none that really make the headlines. NIL is now the big deal. I hate it. It's virtually turning college ball into pro ball. Big companies seem to be the main contributors to this fund. Therefore the top 10 - 15 HS recruits and the top 10 Portal players are going to garner the big bucks. So as my dad used to say, "The rich get richer and the poor have dogs".

I am not sure anyone in IC is throwing money at anyone other than CC
