Walking Dead

I can't fathom how they would ever, under any circumstances, bring Maggie along for the attack. I can't believe Glenn or Rick would allow it. There is no reason for them to. I guess it must just be a plot device so they can get her captured, because it makes zero sense.

These are the "good guys" in this world. That's really troubling.

the confrontation on the road + the knowledge they got from the hilltop = surprise attack is best strategy to save lives regardless of how it went

Not to go all cave but generally good and free countries have went to war for less direct threats than Negan's boys provided to Daryl/Abraham/Sasha on the road that day.

Anybody who is intrigued by the worst types the Walking Dead heroes face and how you would survive in that world might want to read The Road if you haven't. The Road makes even the baddest baddies and most grizzly situations on this show look tame, and it's just people without any sort of zombie or supernatural threat.

Okay, so here's my thought. She's pregnant. She's not sick, or dead. She's in the early stages where the bump (later bulge) doesn't really affect her movements much. Many women continue with regular activities well into the third trimester...most of us know when we can or cannot do something due to our pregnancies.

She's a strong fighter, good with a gun. We know that most of the Alexandrians and Hilltoppers aren't much at fighting. If you're going to battle, you need your soldiers.

I understand the urge to protect a pregnant woman, but sometimes it can be "over protection".

It made sense. She said she had to go since she was the one that negotiated the deal.

Cannot believe Carol and her would be so dumb to get caught. Like Rick and Darryl getting schooled by Jesus twice.

While all that is true, her physical ability to fight isn't the key here. You have to put her pregnancy in the context of this world. If the human race is going to survive, we need children. There are very, very few out there. The baby is way more important than another soldier. Plus, it puts her in a position where she can compromise the group if she is captured - they'll think of her differently as just another soldier, which could compromise the mission and put the group in more risk.

I don't see how that make sense as in anything but a convenient excuse for the plot device. Negotiating the deal with the Hilltoppers is a separate issue from carrying out the attack on the Saviors. And it isn't like she came up with the plan to attack the Savior and therefore is responsible to carry it out - she just convinced the leader to agree to it.

If the human race is going to survive, we need people.

And the bolded part is on THEM, not her. If a woman wants to be coddled, fine, coddle her. If she doesn't, don't smother her.

So what will happen to Maggie? I'm guessing Maggie gets back to the group somehow, but severely wounded and no longer pregnant. The comic and the show while different still follow similar tracks. In the comic there is no Judith but she is in the show so there is already a baby. I don't think they will have two babies on the show.

It's an interesting philosophical question. How far are you willing to go to protect your group? How far is too far. The show tried to make it abundantly clear with the guy playing with the severed head, and the other Survivor's lovely collage, that these guys are pretty effed up. Just the fact that they were likely going to kill one of Sasha, Daryl, or Abraham just for running into them on the road tells you that no interaction with them is going to be civil and without bloodshed.

Knifing dudes as they sleep seems a bit much, but it's kind of an "Us or them" situation. They've learned the hard way that half measures usually don't work out. If they had been more proactive with The Governor they might have been able to stay at the well fortified prison indefinitely.

Not sure if the show will be willing to kill off a pregnant woman or make her lose her baby. I could see Glen dying to save her before seeing her lose the baby.

The thing I'm ****** about is that Maggie and Carol were left in a dark area with no sight lines to they could get ambushed easily.

Of course if Carol had let Maggie go help with her like Maggie wanted, maybe they wouldn't have been there to be ambushed.

Yep, I thought those picture on the wall were included for the soul purpose of reminding us that these guys were awful, so we felt better about watching our team murder them in their sleep.

I must have been the only one that had zero issues with knifing those guys in their sleep. They were POSs. A group of known murderers? Consider it capital punishment.

My real fear about their attack, was what they would do if they encountered innocent women and children at Negan's compound. THAT would have been a line you don't want to cross.

Without the unprovoked attack on the road, I don't think they would have done it. Since that happened, they basically know the Saviors will kill them just for the sake of killing them if they ever find their town. Or basically enslave them for a while like the Hilltop and then eventually kill them anyway.

OH yeah. That's exactly why it was there.

It's too bad the group didn't have enough time to scout the compound more. Might have been able to find out that it was just an outpost of a larger group.

It's easy, you just don't lead them as much

Yeah, they already reneged on their deal with the Hilltoppers by taking hostages and demanding the leaders head. These aren't guys you can peacefully coexist with.

It will be interesting to see what the Alexandrians do to get our girls back.

They had time. Rick just isn't smart enough to think things past a straight line and ask questions of his own plan.
When your recon is "you've been there, but don't know the rooms," first thought for a leader needs to be "we need more info."
Instead, Rick's idea is "let's go."
