Walking Dead

Yeah. You'd think that once 99%(?) of the humans are gone, as long as you can find a defensible location, you shouldn't have much competition for resources or land.

I have been obsessed with these types of scenarios since reading The Road. You'd need some martial training obviously as people would be desperate, and desperation breeds violence and drastic behavior. The Jail is perfect. You can lock yourself in a cell at night or at any time, and store a few days of food there. There would be a toilet and sink in every room. As long as you could keep the water going you are in great shape. The facility would have a ton of food service equipment and space. your secure from inside and out.

You'd want to specialize in something so you could trade for goods and weaponry. I would do beer. It is a great caloric source and pain reliever for a medieval type of environment. Also, moonshine would be a very useful product, and easy to make.

The Governor is obviously nuts, and a story needs a villain and he is a good one so I get it. What he is doing however makes little or no sense. You would want a lot of manual labor to raise food, and care for livestock along with defense purposes. Also, they should be out scavenging anything and everything they can get especially fabric or any raw materials.

Should have seen what the Governor and Michonne did to each other in the comic. Yikes, this was nothing compared to that.

Alcoholic prepper?:pwink:

I would find a mansion and dig 10 feet deep around the whole perimeter of the house. Those mofos would walk right in and fall down into it. Boom. That could keep me alive for awhile.

I think it would be easier to find plain old cement blocks. Make a 10 foot wall and you are good to go. Probably faster than digging too.

So comic worth getting/reading?

Yes, I think so. It will spoil some of the main happenings, but the show has been written just different enough that I can't wait for the next episode. Also if they stay semi true to the comics, I am very excited for what is to come.

I don't find her at all like that. She's been out in the "wild" for God knows how long, she kinda forgot what compassion was. I think Andrea leaving her changed her a bit, as well as when she saw the Governor and penny it looked like it hit her hard. I find her very likeable as a character

I would like her more if the writers gave her more lines instead of just having her glare at the other characters all the time.

That being said, she is still a relatively new character, so I reserve the right to change my mind about her as the show evolves.

So comic worth getting/reading?

I would say yes as well. If you are looking to get caught up in one big chunk, I'd recommend buying this...

Amazon.com: The Walking Dead: Compendium One (9781607060765): Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard, Cliff Rathburn, Tony Moore: Books

That will cover the first 48 issues of the comic which will take you through the prison/Governor story arcs. Going with the Compendium will be cheaper than buying the trade paperbacks individually. And if you find you enjoy the comic, Compendium 2 just came out a few weeks ago which covers issues 49-96.

The title of the next episode leads me to beleive that Merle will sacrifice himself to save Darryl somehow...

Finally got caught up last night. My guess is the Governor is going to offer Merle a shot at redemption by fighting Darryl to the death. Should be real interesting and intense.
