Walking Dead

I'd agree that this season has been much improved over recent seasons.

My only issue...
I kind of wish the walkers had actually evolved instead of the living "whisperers" hiding among them. I think it would make for a more interesting story line. Think of all the potential there. The walkers would actually be a real threat again.

I'm not a reader of the comics, but I understand that would be a significant deviation? The show seems to be on the rise again, so I'm not going to complain too much.

Yeah, the show is now getting back to following the comics. The Whisperers are a group of people that ware the skin of the dead and mingle among the herds. They use the walkers and their ability to direct them, as a weapon against their enemies. They are very territorial and don't like that the communities have started to branch out and come into their territory. Hence the quote to Jesus, at the end, that he is not where he belongs. It will be interesting to see how much from the comics they do. Carl was a big part of this story line, but I can see Henry taking his place. Also, if they do follow the comics pretty closely, expect several more deaths of main cast members.

Has anyone else seen tonight's episode yet?

One of the better ones in quite some time, IMO. The first half of the current season has actually been pretty good, I must say. For the first time in a long time I'm looking forward to the 2nd half of a "Walking Dead" season.

Best episode in several years IMO. When that walker ducked and did what he did, it was a jaw drop moment.

This season has been great IMO. All but episode 7 last week were very, very solid. Mid-season finale was great last night.

I am impressed so far. I don't read the comics, but this Whisperer threat of living people wearing walker faces is fascinating. They can do the thinking for the walkers, which makes them crazy dangerous. Plus, as Jesus found, you can no longer walk up to a walker and drop them with little effort. Never know who is who.

And there must be some interesting back story to the X scar/brand that both Michonne and Daryl have. Something went down in the last five years.

But like others, ugh. TWD decides to jump the shark again with Negan.

This show has officially Jumped the Shark with the recent Negan developments. Its gone from must watch TV for me to DVR material at this point.

I loved the atmospherics and the build-up of the episode; observing the herd from a distance, feeling something was really off about them, having a storm come in, and then the last scene in a foggy graveyard, like an old-school horror movie. Just really, really well done, and light years beyond the crap that Gimple was throwing at us towards the end of his tenure.

A show about zombies 'jumped the shark' when it had a short plot line where a character broke out of a single prison cell?

What the **** are you talking about.

The longer the Negan story line drags on, the less interested I get in the show. It already dragged on 2 season too long.
If Rick had just killed him in the last season finale, it would have been much more fitting.
