My wife was the unfortunate victim of being involved in car accident. No injuries, thank God!!

Driver 1 was at fault, he kept saying "I'm sorry!!" (never admit fault in an accident). Sheriff wrote up the report with a case number. Her vehicle is not drivable and we have been trying to contact their insurance which is Wadena/IMT. Since the at fault driver has not turned in a report, the company can not do anything. Since the at fault driver's vehicle was still drivable, I am wondering if he will turn in a report.

We have State Farm insurance and my wife has called them about this and what our options are. State Farm was going to follow up with Wadena on this to get thing moving along She knows not to file a claim since the accident was not her fault. Anyone else ever had to deal with Wadena/IMT insurance before? My concern is this is going on day 3 already and we have heard nothing back from Wadena yet and my wife needs a vehicle. We had the car towed to a body shop already. The car would still be drivable but the PCM module took a hit. It turns over like normal but won't fire.

I dont have any experience with that, but it seems odd that it happens.

I am sure any at fault driver would delay turning things on, so is there no way to speed up the process? As in, wouldn't your report work assuming its the same report/case number?

Did you get a name and contact information from the other party involved? They may want to pay for the damage out of pocket and not turn the claim into IMT/Wadena. Worst case scenario is you turn the claim into State Farm to get your vehicle fixed and State Farm will go after the at fault party and force their hand to either reimburse State Farm or submit the claim to IMT/Wadena. IMT/Wadena needs to get confirmation from their client to move forward and submit the claim.

Turn the claim into State Farm, regardless of whose fault. They will deal with IMT. State Farm is working for you, so they will go after IMT and the other driver.

Does the report say that the other driver was at fault? If so you should be fine, as others have said, State Farm will go to bat for you and make sure wadena pays.

Make sure to watch your policy information though. If you file a claim with yours, you will get docked for it (or lose your claim-free discount) until they are finished settling up with the other insurance company. When that is all done make sure that you are not still being charged for having a claim.

This,

Just turn it into your insurance if the other party is not working well with you

You need to contact IMT/Wadena. Be sure that you are calling the claim reporting number and not the Agent's office. Call 1-800-274-3531. As long as you have the other party's Insurance information (policy number, which one of their vehicles was involved) they are obligated to take your claim on their policy. They should then assign it to one of their adjusters and take it from there. If at that point you run into problems and delays with the adjuster, then you should go ahead and submit to your own insurance. If your Wife's vehicle is not driveable and you are confident the other party will be found at fault, go ahead and get her a rental. Again, if the other party is found to be at fault they will cover the cost of your rental and reimburse you any amount you already paid. (which you shouldn't have to pay any, just tell Enterprise/Hertz, etc that it's going through insurance and they'll ask for you credit card but not charge it)

We called the 800 number and they sent us directly to the agent. We have case # from the sheriff's department. State Farm has told us the same about them going directly to Wadena. The case number has not been posted though yet. We had a witness that also gave a report to the sheriff deputy with the other driver at fault
