Mr. Fulmer is well respected in the midwest and an honorable human being. The Iowa State family would welcome him with open arms, you can be sure of that!!
BTW, Tennessee and Alabama have already gained a large amount of Cyclone fans, rooting for them to stomp Auburn next year...:yes:

From what I can gather, UT owes CPF that $6 million....period. The assistants from this year however, will be paid the difference of their UT contracts and whatever contracts they sign after being let go.
Keep in mind that here in the SEC, money is no object among the elite schools. Kiffen has a $5 million buyout if UT gets rid of him in his first two years.

Investigated twice (within 3 months)....no major infractions.
Coach Fulmer did lead the way in getting Alabama put on probation. But he didn't do it to spite Bama. He did it because a Bama booster was paying Memphis recruits (Memphis is the hot bed of FB talent in TN) to go to Bama. The final straw came when one of the kids we were trying to recruit told his UT recruiter:
"Alabama is offering me $XXXXX....can you match that?"
That was it for Fulmer and he went to the NCAA and Bama damn near got the death penalty.
Do you think he will ever get over his Tennessee love? Also, do you think he would be good in Ames and if so, why?

Yes. If Tennessee gives us Fulmer they would tie for first with Bama in my eyes as far as teams I am rooting for in the SEC. That being said I hope that every team in the SEC beats Auburn into the ground.
On a sidenote Kiffen's wife was all I needed to see to root for the Vols.
That would be the type of hire that JP will be looking for. It would fill the stands more then Chizik and, as some one else put it, would be a Johnny Ore type hire.
As a person who literally lives three blocks from Phil Fulmer, I feel compelled to chime in.
1) Phil is a very honorable man and does a lot for and in the community. He is a coach in the Bill Fennely model in terms of giving back.
2) The facts are his teams over the last couple of years had LOTS of off field problems. Arrests, etc.
3) This year, his team lacked on-field discipline...in fairness, this was not typical of his teams over his career.
4) Phil knows how to recruit nationally--but its pretty easy to recruit to Tennessee compared to ISU.
5) While if find a Fulmer mover to ISU in the "snow ball in hell" category, its important to know that his two best and long time coordinators would not be a part of any move he would make. Cutcliff is at Duke and not leaving. Chavis will be a D-coordinator at Clemson or some other high profile school.
Bottomline: ISU fans should move on--Fulmer isn't going to move to the frozen tundra.

1. Tennessee has had a slew of off the field problems and Fulmer will give them 2nd...maybe 3rd chances (depending on the severity). But he is not above kicking players off the team...including starters and potential all-americans.
2. Well, this is where you may not like Fulmer. He believes in a ball control offense. He loves big brusing backs and big, brusing linemen blocking for them. As far as I could tell, his entire time at UT, he never got involved with the defense much. He left it to John Chavis (who is reportedly, getting ready to land at LSU).
3. I dont know about his staff. Chavis is, we think, going to LSU. OC Dave Clawson was hired as Bolling Greens new coach. Not sure if you followed the NFL but Tennessee has been putting out some great DL, under long time coach Dan Brooks (dont think he has been hired anywheres yet). Maybe Larry Slade as DBs coach. Hell, he may get Trooper Taylor to rejoin him from OK State.
