All game long Vitale kept saying "Iowa State is going to be a very good Big 12 team". I wasn't sure how to take that?
He never said that we were going to be a really good team, he always said a really good "Big 12" team. And the Big 12, of course, is no Big 10 or ACC in Vitale's eyes, so I wasn't sure just how complimentary he was actually being?

**** loves college basketball, and that is good enough with me. He is way past his prime and he is a homer for certain schools, but that's his thing. I like the guy. He isn't going to break down a game and give you great insight, but he has his role and plays it well.

No complaints about **** tonight. He's an ACC homer, but they weren't in the picture tonight so that was a non-issue. I thought he was fairly even keel in this game. What a great game to show case ISU in front of a National Audience and we get the win to boot!

Dickie V was walking around Hilton (inside and out) like a kid in a candy store before the game. Count me as a big fan. He may have an "act" in front of the mic, but you can tell he loves people.

This. Dicky V loves college basketball. On Sunday he found 15,000 other people that love college basketball and he enjoyed himself. That's what college athletics should be about.

Responses to this thread are likely very different had we lost and McGary had huge game. That said - I have no issues with him as well. Like all members of the media - can be annoying at times. So what. He's an icon and gave our team/fans major props.

I normally don't care for Vitale, but I had no issues with anything he said tonight. Very complimentary of Iowa State.

Not a fan of Vitale but from what I heard today he was showing a lot of love for Hoiberg, Hilton Magic and this MBB. I had no problem with him today.

I went to an Illinois BB function and Dickie was there 20 or so years ago, so my girlfriend (now wife) went up to him to autograph a program. And he started falling all over himself, I guess he thought she was hot, so he's signing the program and blurts out "I wish I was younger baaaaaaayyybeeeeeeeee" Pretty funny actually, I kind of like him anyway.

It was a great infomercial for ISU---2 hours worth.

dickie was great. But if you really listened to him, he was pumping Michigan 80% of the time..that got old
