VEISHEA bands announced

I wonder how controlled the band field will be for admission??
With all of the people/friends that come, i wonder if they could sneak in somehow... (not that i am recommending it or anything.)

any excitement i had for veishea was just extinguished with the announcement of the events lineup.

looks like it will be just another weekend...

Yeah, I for one, am thoroughly dissappointed with this lineup! Can anyone that went to ISU in the last 20 years ever remember having to pay for admittance into the Concerts?

Eve 6, woo hoo  We definately need Mike Jones again...who, Mike Jones, who? They couldnt get a Jason Brown or The Envy Corps?

Wow, way to ruin one of the best student run festivals in the nation, eh? 2005 VEISHEA was awesome, 2006 was sub-par, and this year it looks it's finally gone off the deep end.

Looking forward to John Oliver, though. He's the best new analyst on the Daily Show.

I am not very excited either... The line up is sub-par this year, but the main thing is the wristband deal. A lot of my friends head over for VEISHEA, and now most of them won't be able to go to the concerts.

I guess the only thing that will make it better is warm/sunny weather.

This has a lot of precursors for a riot. The lousy acts, paid admission, and keeping outsiders out is gonna cause binge drinking to explode. Speaking of that, party at my house on Welch! 6 kegs! Say you heard about it on CF and drink for free!!! haha

The problem is parties like this are gonna get too big with no on campus alternatives. If the cops come bust it there are gonna be 100 drunk students walking around and the bars on Welch are only a block away...I got a bad feelin about this VEISHEA. Lots of non-ISU people come to VEISHEA because they want to riot and these people in the long run end up giving ISU a bad name.

Well I didn't know who Jamie O'Neal was until I just googled her, I guess I'll be attending her show: :yes::yes::notworthy::yes:

I'm not sure the Veishea committee really thought this one through. I for one always have friends come to Veishea who aren't students here. I think this will just keep more ISU students away from the concerts because their friends from out of town can't come. The only thing that will keep this from happening is if there happens to be a lot of wristbands left on the date they said they would let you buy one for a friend. Hopefully it will be a fun weekend anyway...

Wow, this is an ugly setup. I mean if they are trying to get VEISHEA canceled they are doing a great job at it. I thought they were trying to encourage on campus events to keep people out of house parties. Yeah people were drinking on campus and there were a bunch of idiots throwing beer cans at some of the concerts, but for the most part it was a controlled crowd.

What next? Are they going to charge $2 to go to the parade so they can buy carbon credits to offset the parades emissions?

Yeah those EIU dudes can really party.

wow great that now the students who are already paying to fund VEISHEA are now double dipping having to pay for the concerts as well...

I use to brag about veishea and how funn it was with the concerts and all to everyone outside of ISU, yea... this year im keeping my mouth shut... sorry but not real impressed

After the bands were announced, the paper reported they could hear pins drop as people tried to figure out what they just heard. No John Denvers in the group.

fyi - Students do not really pay for VEISHEA already. Only the $20K that comes from GSB, less than 5% of the budget. My guess is the budget got slashed by about $100K and entertainment was the first area to be cut.

I'm kind of disappointed in the route the committee took as well. I would rather have 2 bigger acts than 2 ok and 6 or so smaller. Oh well VEISHEA will still be fun.

VEISHEA has improved 110% since pre-2000 and early 2000 though. (not including 70's, 80's, early 90's) Before it was a half-assed attempt at a county fair. Now it actually brings people out to events during the day and night. Over 15,000 for Mike Jones on Saturday last year was pretty amazing. *A little rowdy though which may have caused the # limit.

looks like i picked a good time to graduate... before this crap theyre calling veishea.

seriously... charging? and crowd limits?

i doubt i'll even bother making it to campus that night then... the only thing there will be the riot (i think we're due anyways...)
