Vacation Question...

Most cases of food poisoning are actually a gastro bug but I digress.

I'd take the internet in a heartbeat, acknowledging that going in NOT knowing you'd have no internet can be quite tricky if it's a vacation where you are on the move and need to check directions/location/whatever. If a beach vacation? No problem

Have had the gastro/food bug about 5 times too many in my life. Including during the one regular work day a YEAR daycare is closed and at about 30 weeks pregnant. You know what's not a good time? Trying to get unhooked from all the fetal monitors so you can scramble to the bathroom every 3 minutes. Oh and on the 35 minute drive in and sure you're dying of abdominal cramps and praying you won't have to puke out the window, you get stopped by THREE TRAINS (great practice run for actual labor). Or feel too unsteady to lift your crying baby who has a dirty diaper and have to call spouse home from work cause you're done.

**** stomach bugs.

I think over the past year or so I've had food poisoning twice (big shoutout to the sports page in ankeny and hy-vee's grocery pickup service)

I'm picking option B over A 100% of the time: I'd rather drive lost than ****/throw up all over the car
Winner. And despite having a map app and GPS, I always make sure that I have a paper map of the states I'm visiting in the car - one because my son likes to follow along as we travel and two because I am prepared if my phone fails.

Question: While on vacation would you rather have:

A) Food Poisoning

or

B) No Internet Access

Well, according to a recent survey (by Roku) more people would rather suffer from food poisoning while (47% say it is a disaster) on vacation than have no internet access (49% say it is a disaster).

In addition it takes Americans on average 26.5 minutes to ask for the wifi password at a vacation rental; and 31.1 minutes for kids to ask their parents to watch tv while vacationing.
F*** the Internet!

I had food poisoning once. It was turrible, and lasted almost a week. When he figured out the exact bug I had, the doctor asked me if I had been to Thailand. Nope. Bettendorf.

I was a groomsman at a wedding, and everyone thought I got super-hammered the night before, but I'd had 1 beer. And I was as green as the Heiniken bottle all day.

So yeah, dump the internet for sure. No brainer.

Food poisoning ain't all that bad... You lose a few lbs, and your abs get a great work out.

With the internet the only thing that happens is my wrist gets sore and I run out of Jergens.

geezus gawds is this question for millenials?

NO internet access would be great

Some of my favorite vacations were with little to no internet access; Dude ranch in Colorado; small ship in Alaska for 5 days; Cabin on a northern Minnesota lake

Whoever picks 'food poisoning' is idiotic

Only had food poisoning once and it was no worse than a night of a bad flu. Lucky from the way it sounds.

I'll break out the compass and skip the sickness for my vacation.

Well, since I enjoyed both during the same cruise, I think I'm uniquely qualified to give a definitive answer. I'd take the no internet every time.

3 full days of norovirus on the cruise ship was absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. And no internet to keep me occupied during the 3-5 minute stretches between bathroom trips. What a great honeymoon that was. Ugh.

I'm pretty sure you "win" this thread. Hopefully your spouse stayed healthy. When norovirus takes over a ship like that do the cruise lines offer any type of reimbursements?

No internet access, for sure. I can enjoy the entire vacation without the internet. I couldn't enjoy anything with food poisoning.
