Uthoff available?

In that article it says he has put on 20 lbs of muscle during his redshirt. If he did come here and put on another 15, he'd be a big wing at 6-8, 235. I wouldn't mind seeing another instate kid on the team.

Agreed....i mean right now we have two spots open....and all indications are....we got nobody else coming. Oriaki aint walking through that door folks, Lockett aint walking through that door, Kevin Mchale isnt walking through that door.........sorry...was channeling my inner Rick Pitino.....

Anyway....i think you grab Uthoff if he wants to come home in a second.

Where did you hear that? Sounds like Wisconsin's coaches expected him to play and are angry he is transferring.

Someone just said that they recruited Sam Dekker and therefore Uthoff saw the writing on the wall.

But I guess if he wants to come let him. We do need somebody to fill up the bench.

Do you have inside sources?

Oh no no....not at all. But the laundry list of suitors for Oriaki kind of make us a huge longshot, and the Lockett to Marquette rumors seem to be much louder than the ones of him coming to ISU. But who knows.

Either way if rather have an in state kid with some years left to play....then a couple 1 year guys.

Uthoff over Lockett if you asked me. One year vs three, plus an Iowa kid always keeps the team grounded and motivated for in-state games.

I'd rather have the most talented player for one year than an average 3 year player. Lockett is proven. Uthoff left Wisconsin, it seems, because of competition for minutes. Why would a confident, talented kid leave a program like Wisky? I bet he ends up at UNI or Creighton.

Considering that Ryan has being talking about Uthoff being a huge contributor on the team, um, I don't know if competition for minutes rumor is true or not. Could be Ryan was talking it up in the media to get Uthoff to stay, could be not....but at the gym last and night and this morning(where I get all my local sports gossip), all the talk was almost in panic mode....doesn't help that Marquette is getting buzz for Locket....WI/Marquette rivalry is much more heated than many know.

Uthoff is anything but a post player. He's a big man that can shoot from the outside, so he doesn't fit that need for us.

We can use all talented big men we can get, whether they do their scoring in the post or shoot from the outside.

If I was him I would go Juco and play a year then evaluate options after that. It seems sitting out two years straight would be difficult.

qualifier out of high school. doesn't need a JUCO degree. 1 yr nd then transfer to ISU--and get three more years this route?

Uthoff Decision Shocks Wisconsin - What's next?
Here's an article I wrote in regards to the Uthoff transfer situation. I went to ISU & as such am a massive Cyclones fan, but I now cover my homestate Badgers for a living. Hopefully this sheds a bit of light on the entire 2 years thing and the possibility of going to ISU.

Also, I've seen talk about Bo Ryan's description of Uthoff and all the things he said came at the beginning of the season and according to all reports no one had a clue this was coming at all at Wisky, so I doubt highly that he was blowing smoke or "trying to get him to stay" with comments made in October. I think personally he's a perfect fit for the program at ISU, he can run the floor and stretch a defense with his length and ability to shoot from outside. I hope he lands at ISU but it may not be an option for him as the article states.

Bo is a **** if he put ISU on the non-transfer list

No reason Dekker and Uthoff can't play at the same time even in Bo Ryan's system. Sure, Dekker is a "SF", and Uthoff's skills fit the SF position too - But Wisconisn loves tall guys who can step out and shoot (ie: Brian Butch, Jon Leuer to name a few recent). After Berggren & Brusewitz graduate next year, they'll have plenty of mins for SF / PF spots. Therefore, this is definitely not a case of "I'm not going to get to play" as cybadger has pointed out.

This is something else - no one seems to know why, even his old AAU coach, Jamie Johnson.

Again, nothing has been able to be confirmed through any of my sources but I'd totally agree with you if indeed it is the case. It could be that he put all Big East, Big Ten, Big 12 schools on the list, but if it's just ISU that's a total **** move and doesn't make any sense to me either.

FWIW, that Delta Bravo out in NH that is a Jays fan thinks "all non-BCS schools are on the non-transfer list". If that's the case, it's 1.) a **** move, and 2.) good for the MVC.

I can't say that I can recall many players not being able to go to "any BCS school".

I see what you are saying good sir, but you are forgetting that leaves absolutely no one working on the inside at all if you're putting Dekker and Uthoff in at the same time. People forget the work that Bruesewitz does on the inside because they only really notice when he steps out to take a rare three. That's why playing them at the same time doesn't work. Would be fun if they had another inside presence (perhpas Kaminsky could be that), but it doesn't matter now.

Love to see him win the appeal and come to ISU straight away. It's a great fit for him in terms of being an athletic wing player in my book.

I wonder how Bo would react if Wisconsin could keep him from taking another job of his choice? Hopefully the NCAA will keep Bo's immaturity in check.
