USA vs. Netherlands

Read the thread from start to finish without knowing the result. Hup, USA, Hup! Hope it is on replay tonight on some channel. At a minimum, it should be the lead story on SC. Damn the Stanley Cup and the NBA Finals! :)

Replay is on Watch ESPN for anyone who didn't get to see it. Very entertaining game.

I missed both goals. Coworker asked me a question & I took my headphones off & when I got back, 4-3. I thought I was seeing the score wrong.

I didn't get to see it... were all of the studs playing for both sides?

Good number of the big names...
US had Bradley and Beckerman and younger WC guys like Johannsson, Yedlin, also Diskerud and Shea. No Dempsey or Jones (injured), Tim Howard (year off intl games) or Altidore.

NL had Van Persie, Huntelaar and Blind, Sneijder off bench (78'), but no Arjen Robben

I plan to watch replay (available on watchESPN), but if you want highlights

Both had plenty of big names out there which makes friendlies more interesting. Glad neither of them went with B or C squads.

Dempsey isn't injured, it's just that his wife is expecting their 4th child and could give birth any day now.

But anyway, couldn't watch the game but damn, how'd we pull that one out? I thought it was over at 3-1.

The Dutch thought it was over at 3-1 as well and stopped getting back on defense.

Goal #2 was when the Dutch coughed up the ball at midfield, Bradley put an amazing pass past the Dutch defender right on Yedlin's foot and crossed it over to Brooks for the tap in to the wide open goal.

Goal #3 was the result of a corner kick (I believe also a result of a counter). The Dutch failed to clear the corner, it went to Williams, and he buried it off a Dutch player into the goal.

Goal #4 was just a minute or two later, very similar to goal #2. The Dutch were pressuring in the offensive zone, but the US countered, credit Bradley with an amazing run, passing this time to Morris who crossed to Wood.

Guzan gave up 3 goals, but I'd say none of them were his fault (although probably should take at least some share on #2 since he got his hand on it).

I honestly think this is the kind of play Klinsmann envisioned when he took over the team 4 years ago now. Goals 1, 3, and 4 are the type of goals you expect to see from a European squad. It's simply the kind of play you wouldn't expect from USA 5 years ago
