Right now I'm stuck on University Avenue in Des Moines sitting in a city buss stop. The transmission on my Jaguar dropped out. Does anyone know of anybody that works on foreign car transmissions.I really don't want to go to a dealer if possible. I have a tow truck lined up but I need a place to tow it to. Any help would be appreciated.

There was a place out in Cumming that did OLD Jags, but they might be out of business now, not sure.

For moderns, it is tough. I have not had any luck in Cedar Rapids finding anyone to touch mine (XK8 or X-type), they are just basically afraid and there isn't much volume in it for them. Willis will do it of course, but they will essentially just replace the whole thing for about $5k in all likelihood. They don't "fix" things really.

Any idea what is wrong with it? What kind of car? I have got lots of help on jagforums and fixed some stuff myself, but only small stuff. Maybe if you are lucky it is something common, minor, and fixable.

I don't recall Bond ever driving a Jaguar.

Only happened once I guess, good trivia question. Usually the baddies drove the Jags.

Note to self: if I ever have anything urgent, never seek help on CF.

If your first thought in an "urgent" situation is "I wonder if the idiots on CF can help," than the situation should probably not be termed "urgent."
