Urban Meyer Stepping Down

I would be surprised if Phil Knight lets Chip Kelley get away. He has the money to match any offer as long as Chip is his guy.

I would think the same thing but you never know. Florida has the money and all the recruits in the backyard so its hard to tell.

god i hope Urban Meyer goes to the Broncos and tries to make Tebow into a relevant NFL QB.
Please sports Gods, as a Royals, Chiefs and Clone fan i have had a rough couple of years. Could you please help me out with this one?
Thanks
That Guy

Ya but Oregon isn't necessarily in the college football limelight year in and year out and he can probably get away with more stuff there than at Florida.

I think Florida looks at Spurrier, Mullen, Gruden, and Chris Peterson.

I get the sense that Gruden isn't very interested in college ball. I think Chiz will be a serious candidate, you must consider an alum who is about to win the national championship.

this is true. on his way out he is like, "University of Auburn gave me every opportunity to succeed and I think i left it better than when I got here. And we paid Cam Newton. Everyone have a good weekend"

Why would Guz Malzahn not be the obvious hire here? He's one of the top three offensive coaches in America and he already is practically the head coach of a championship team.

lol why would chip kelly leave oregon?

and chris peterson = dan hawkins

in fact, hawkins might have an even better resume considering he took boise from nobody into a 11 win team while peterson just kept the ship going.

I think the reason Boise went from nobody to 11 win teams WAS Chris Peterson.

Unless Dan Mullen decides he doesn't want to leave Miss St. so soon, I think he has the inside track. It would be a seamless transition. Same offense, and he can keep any of the coordinators he wants. Players will all like him because he helped recruit them.

I would be so ticked if I was Miss St fan right now.

Right on the money. I watch almost all Boise's games and Chris Peterson was and is the mastermind behind them. I for one hope he stays at Boise because I have become a huge fan of them.

I wouldn't rule out Charlie Strong. He was with Florida for a looooong time and the AD there really likes him. I agree that it will probably come down to Mullen or Strong.

I think Mullen is the "sexier" hire since Urban made so much hay with his offense and Florida took a big step back when he left.
I am guess Strong would be a good fall back if Mullen wants to make his own name at Miss St.

At least this year we wont have someone posting that Dan McCarney should be a candidate for the job.

Easier said than done in the SEC West. They had a pretty good year, finishing 8-4 and ranked #21, and that was good for FIFTH place in their division. Pretty brutal task to build/rebuild in a division where Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, and LSU reside. The East is a much easier division, and I have to think it's way easier to recruit to Florida than MSU.

What are the chances Mac knew this was happening? I think that's why he got out. A chance to be a head coach and knew he wouldn't be the guy Florida would hire.

Mac has had other opporunities come along in the last couple of years. Some weren't interested in him, others he turned down - from what I've been told. I think it's safe to say he's been continually looking since leaving ISU.

Oh, I agree. Florida is any coaches dream job. If they offer Mullen he would be dumb to turn it down, but stranger things have happened.
