Upset Hawkeyes

And what you would not give to have ISU there. It amazes me how clone fans like to belittle the Hawk accomplishments to make themselves feel better. If memory serves me correctly ISU has never played in a New Years bowl.

The International Bowl is on Jan 3, should we be impressed by that? Iowa's bowl isn't as much as an accomplishment as much as it is a gift. Per record, Big 11 standings and head to head, N-Western should have been in this bowl instead. This just happens to be another bowl game on New Year's day, all of them could be on New Years Day or could be on December whatever. It probably needs to be, it is not a significant bowl.

The Cap One Bowl (old Citrus Bowl) was quite often played on new years eve and sometimes New Years day. Only the top tear bowl games-Orange, Cotton, Sugar, Fiesta, Rose should be on Jan 1 or 2 with the NC game a couple days later.

If the bowl situation was the way it was 20 some years ago there would only be 18-21 bowl games and no conference affiliations with any of them. 21 is plenty of bowl games and would mean you need probably 9 wins in a 12 game season to be one (that would be a true accomplishment). If you look at the NFL, only 12 of 32 or 38% of the teams are in the playoffs, which generally means that teams are fairly good.. With 34 bowl games, more than 50% of the Div 1 teams are in a bowl.

Well Missouri should have went to the Gator Bowl over Nebraska so I guess it isn't just the Big 10 that doesn't go by head to head or overall records either.

Im stunned. I was unaware the hoks were in a bowl game, and Im even more shocked that some of them have learned to read and write well enough to communicate on an online message board.

I really wish there were less bowl games. 6-6 should not get in a game.

Looking at some of the matchups, there are some bad teams playing in bowls. Florida Atlantic?

That said, we aren't even close to a bowl this year.

lol...oh my. You clones are something else...This thread is as funny as it is pathetic.

Yes it did, I was directed here by a friend. Being the Christmas season and all, thought I'd reach out to the underpriveleged. ;-)

Rivalrys aside, Merry Christmas to all, have a safe and Happy Holiday.

So you come on OUR message board, call us pathetic, and then wish us a Merry Christmas? **** off.

Yeah - way to insult an actual member of this board, jackass...

Awww...look at the wittle hawkeye fan...so cute...he wants us to care about their "bowl" game...hahahahahahaha...Maybe next, I'll care about how Herky's heart is broken that he isn't as good as Cy.

And once again they wonder why the are usually the most hated fans in the country??:eek::eek:

Really?

You really think people outside of Iowa care about Iowa? You really think fanbases outside of Iowa think "Man, those Hawkeyes are the worst fans ever to exist. Ever."

No, everybody hates their rivals. Every rival fanbase thinks "Man, the entire country hates our rivals just as much as we do."

In actuality, I guarantee you that if you spoke to somebody in person, and got away from this message board stuff, you'd rarely hear any negative comments about Hawkeye fans. Just as you would rarely hear negative comments about ISU fans.

Some people seem to forget on here that we are all Iowans. Apparently the team you cheer for somehow makes you a good/bad person.

I'm not saying you're wrong....but if I had a nickel for every time you "guarantee" somebody something on this message board then I could probably get a month ahead on my mortgage payment. Must be nice to be so damn knowledgeable that you can levy out so many guarantees.....

Nah, I don't know everything. I'm just always certain that what I say is right ;)

I travel throughout the midwest for work and I can vouch for the fact that "other fanbases" do not think highly of hawkeye fans. My business card lists Iowa City as my office address and sports is often a conversation ice-breaker; I frequently hear unsolicited anti-hawk sentiment prior to revealing that I'm not affiliated! I'd submit that hawks are the second most hated "fanbase" in the midwest, trailing only Notre Dame, and at least Notre Dame alum / fans have something to crow about (program history, school prestige, etc.).

This CANNOT be true. SouthernHawk laid out one of his "guarantees"...

I hardly hear anything negative about isu but then again I don't hear much about the bengals or lions
