Updates on the 16-17 hoops schedule

Not a great schedule but it could be if they end up playing Gonzaga who should be really good. Got a crappy draw for the SEC matchup. Vandy lost their best two players.

Actually in looking at it. Cincinnati should be a top 25 team. Stanford with Reid Travis healthy can be a top half Pac 12 team. If they make it to play Gonzaga that would be another really good team. So it's pretty good actually.

Maybe they are trying to sell fewer season tickets this year.

Really? Sure a little healthier non-con schedule would be nice, but if you can't get excited about a slate of Kansas, Baylor, Oklahoma, Kansas State, West Virginia, Okie State, TCU, Tech and Texas I don't know what to say.

When was the last time we saw a non-con schedule this lackluster? Gotta be before Duke 2010
If you are referring to the home only part, look no further than two years ago when we had Oakland, Georgia State, Lamar, UMKC, Arkansas, Southern and MVSU.
If you are talking overall, I have no idea what you are talking about. We play at least 3 NCAA teams from last year in Iowa, Vandy and Cincy. We also have a chance to play two more in Miami and then either Florida, SHU or Gonzaga. Playing 5 high major NCAA teams is far from lackluster to me.

Only 12 games, and you're allowed to have 13. Any chance there is another game added, or is this what it will be for sure? I do recall Prohm saying somewhere that he thought we would only get 12 this year.
Is the difference in the fact that the tournament we are in is a three game tournament rather than a 4 game one?

My initial rank of ISU’s non-conference slate, hardest to easiest (game site is a factor, obviously).

Advocare opponents are based on assumption of beating Indiana State and other probable favorites advancing in other brackets.

1. at Vanderbilt
2. vs. Gonzaga (Florida/Seton Hall)
3. at Iowa
4. vs. Miami (Stanford)
5. Cincinnati
6a. vs. Drake
6b. vs. Indiana State
8. Omaha
9. Mount St. Mary’s
10. Mississippi Valley State
11. The Citadel
12. Savannah State

When MVSU looks like only the third-weakest team on the schedule — ugh.

They have not been bad, just average- 4 th & 6th in the MVC. They were 2nd the year before, so they have a decent program and it will be a nice test for ISU.

160th in the country is about average for all ncaa teams. That also means they basically suck. TCU was 126 last year. These are per Sagarin.

Exactly, the big 12 schedule is always great and the Advocare tourney is the best ISU has played in that I can remember. I don't get why people care about anything other than 3 or 4 non con games anyway, the rest are just fillers. Does playing in the top team from mid major conferences sell tickets?

Nebraska isn't a blue blood but I wouldn't mind scheduling a real home & home with them.

In the Tweet, it says for secret scrimmage. I don't think this means actual home and home basketball game. Just seems that for the next two years, we will play Nebraska in a closed scrimmage.

I second this, it would be fun to play them now that they at least act like they care about bball. I'd also like to see us revive the series with Creighton, we played basically every year in the late 80's early 90's, would be really nice to see an annual game with a BE team, even Marquette would nice.
