Updates on Cap. City Classic? (6/20)

I don't think effort is ever going the be an issue with C. Johnson. That kid hustles all the time and gives you everything he has. My kind of player! But at 6-7 he's a little vertically challenged against bigger Big 12 teams. With the right matchups he could be very effective but there will be games when he probably just won't be able to overcome the height difference.

What would be the guess on weights of these guys:

Corey Johnson - 230?
Alex Thompson - 235?
Clayton Vette - 245?

From ISUfan22 pics, I thought AT looked much bigger.

I agree he looked bigger than what I remember seeing him last year. Then again, all these guys look bigger to me because we're so close to them at these games.

Our 5 year anniversary is this weekend (is this where I trade her for 2 young prospects?) and we're going to KC for the weekend - so we won't be hitting the games Sunday.

Will shoot for next week, hope to see some more energetic play and meet a few more CF members. :biggrin9gp:

This is a bit off topic, but could anyone who attend the games tell me what they thought of Ray Miller & DeAnthony Zanders? They attended the same high school that I did, so I have kind of followed their careers. Any chance of either of them playing at the D1 level? Thanks!

Miller played with Crawford, C. Johnson and Peterson. I thought he did a very good job with the team as will as individually. Rebounded, scored, blocked shots. Not a thick guy but he positioned well.

Don't recall Zanders. He is listed on Brackins, Taylor and Jacobson's team. The team only had 6 players.

WHOAH WHOAH WHOAH!!!

Didn't you just tell us all this is a family board last week?

No, he meant his wife is expecting twins!!! :yes4lo::yes4lo:

If ya don't like a post, report it please.

I thought Zanders played well. If I recall correctly, he had some good outside shots. He complimented Taylor well.

I think that our season will depend on PG play. I am very comfortable with our players at C (Juri, Alex), PF (Johnson, Brackens), SF (Clark, Lucca), and SG (Taylor, Freshman). I am not comfortable at all with our PG and I am hearing that Garret is at parity in this league. That really concerns me. If we don't have a PG next year we will be struggling to make the NIT again and I don't like the sound of that. Is Garrett another Lee Love or is he a Blaylock who had moments his Freshman year but still accomplished what was needed?

im not worried bout garrett

he will be fine. how GREAT, not just good, in my opion, Thompson looked, maybe they can afford to redshirt vette. Anyone else notice how Alex was like jiris dad out there? how weird was that? jiri does act like a 10 yr old brat at times. I was really really dissapointed n both teams in last game. thugish, sluggish, half assing it, the supposed great brakins was throwing up the uglyist shots humanly possible, and way out of his range. Drake n lesser players were good but as far as young hotshot Clones they stunk up the gym the last game. OK i will admit i had to get out of there at halftime, too ugly n boring n missed the 2nd half comeback but still neither team was that good.
