Because they have the best forward in the country (White), and the best entire front court in the country (at least according to Iowa fans)...... duh.
At what point does KSU get ranked? This is a very good and quiet start, that most people didn't expect after their non-con. We need to drill them Tuesday.
I cannot reasonably come up with a reason for us to be that far ahead of Maryland, especially since they have 4 more wins and one less loss and beat us straight up. But good to finally be getting some extra kick in our rankings based on the respect we have earned the last couple years.
Welcome to the new big 12. We have so many teams ranked that we now don't fall when we lose much and usually the other gains so it is a net positive much like the SEC west in football. It could be accurate or be a bubble but it certainly gives the big 12 an advantage this year.
I think they're playing like a top 25 team now, but at this current time, their resume is too bad to rank them. Top 25 is for the whole season, not just for the last month.
Who would have ever thought that could happen to ISU. That kind of respect is normally reserved for Blue Bloods.

No. We are about 10 missed FTs from a top five ranking though. It seems every time we get in the top 10 we lay an egg-or is that my natural ISU brain kicking in?
In order to get to the Top 5 you have to go on a pretty good run. You're bound to have an off-game and lose.
I think he's referencing the fact that if we would've hit free throws against South Carolina and Baylor, we would be ranked in the top 5 now or tomorrow.

God forbid they start 5-1 in conference, you'd have to rank them for those road wins even though they looked like a sub 150 team in non conf.
