With the recent great news of Wilkins committing, who do you guys have as your starting 5?

PG: DG
SG: Phillips
SF: ???
PF: Wilkins
PF: Dendy

SF is the biggest ? mark. Do we go with a small lineup that can penetrate and put CC at the point and move DG over? Do we go with the shooter and SC? Do we go with size and defense and put Ejim there? Boozer?

Too early, someone will likely impress in fall practice and win the job but I would think Boozer or SC has the edge there right now being they are returning players.

Obviously it's too early, because we don't know what the roster will look like, but there are a lot of different ways to go.

I'm still hopeful that they can bring in a true center. Dendy playing C scares me.

I doubt that Wilkins will be starting, especially for the first half of the year.

I would really like to see Boozer step up his game (like he was right before he was hurt) and win the starting 3 spot. he brings so many intangibles to the floor that can be infectious to the rest of the team.

I really don't think you need a center to be successful in college ball. It helps sometimes but look at Nova, Marquette, WV. They play with a lot of guards and wings, and only one forward. Unfortunately we don't have a lot of wings. I think a 3 guard lineup with 2 forwards would be nice

Phillips is going to start, he's probably going to be our leading scorer on the team so he's not coming off the bench. Who on the current roster is going to be the goto guy on offense because there isn't a single guy right now. DG is too limited offensively to be that guy, SC too streaky of a shooter and none of our bigs are going to be that guy either.

now see i don't get this, i see wings as our weakest part of our team, why have 2 of them out there. I like 3 guard line ups. Nova style, but sometimes they even go 4 guards.

It kinda depends who you define as a wing and who is a guard.

On the team (as of right now):

Guards: DG, Colvin, Scotty, Phillips, Bubu

Wings: Ejim, Boozer, Clyburn (assuming he commits), Oliver

Bigs: Dendy, JVB, Wilkins, Railey, (one more)

I doubt two of those wings will start, but I could certainly see two of them on the court at the same time, depending on matchups.

I have a feeling that the starting 5 is going to change quite a bit between the start of the season and the beginning of Big 12 play.

Very true. In today's college basketball a true center is not really needed.

Mac will have to treat this coming season as if his job is on the line (which surely it is by now) so I think we could be surprised with some of the lineups we see. Personally I would like to see Colvin start at PG because I think despite his limitations shooting the ball he sees the floor a lot better than DG and makes things happen on offense. Right now it's anyone's guess what the lineup will look by Big 12 play probably but I bet early on the guys currently in the system get more playing time at the start because they've been in the system the longest and are familar with one another.

I only say that because if we don't pick up another big, lack of depth in the front court might be an issue. Slide Vanderbeken to the corner, should open up the floor. Rebounding would be a concern.
