UPDATE: McDermott has not accepted CU offer yet

Would it be tacky to put signs in his yard saying "Please take the CU job, signed Cyclone Nation"?

I just turned on the radio expecting Miller and Deace to be discussing this in detail, nope. Breaking down the late rounds of the NFL draft. That just speaks volumes about how much they really care about ISU.
They have already talked about the change. The show starts at 6 am.

I am shocked... none of this makes sense. You hire two assistant coaches, you just sign two recruits that will help you next season, and in 48 hours you throw that all away for Creighton. Yes, the contract is astronomical and probably better than he deserves. But, I am shocked.

What about all this crap about character, doing job the right way and bringing back the Hilton Magic? If this is true and I will wait till Jamie announces it as so. But, if it is then Mac has lost all credibility for me. Don't make grand speeches, promises, and set yourself up as holy then thou and pull a stunk like this one. This stinks even more than Chizek running off with his tale between his legs to Auburn. I expected more from Mac than this crap.

Yeah, I'm shocked too...but not at the same things as you are.

I'm shocked that guys can improve their pay situations after going 5-19 (Chizik) and 18-50 (GM in conference play). What happened to the good old days when coaches actually had to win to get the chance at more money? Maybe I should change careers and get into coaching?!?!

Please spare me all of the consternation over doing things "the right way". Should all of this be true and not just some wild dream I say HALLELUJAH...HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!!!!!!!

I am wondedring if some other message was partly laid out with the hiring of Nick Nurse as associate head coach ( I believe the way his title was structured ). These moves may be more obvious at the end of today. JP may have been more involved with the Nurse move which might have given Mac pause.

"According to Action 3 News in Omaha"

Actually they are reporting that Action 3 is reporting.

They're trusting it. The 9 year/$10 million contract in the article seems insane. Insane enough to post it here rather than in a separate thread in case it ends up bogus.

But wasnt Nurse already being talked about here even before Altman went to Creighton. Now maybe Creighton-Oregon and ISU have been planning this for weeks, but I would doubt it.

It's a reflection of the current state of our athletics programs. In both cases, it is a move up.

Clearly Auburn is a move up from ISU in FB at this point in time. However, the ISU job in MBB is clearly a better job than Creighton...the only reason it might not be at the present time is GM...plain and simple...he has, as another poster said, torpedoed our program in the last 4 years.
