I know we should worry about the players who are currently on the team, but I saw the game last night with R.Vaughn. How are they 10-7 and 1-3 in the conference. They have loads of talent and are struggling. Makes you wonder about the level of coaching that Dave Rice does over there in LV. It is the MW so there is a chance they can go on a run, but some of the teams out there are solid (SDSU, CSU,NW,Wyoming). I always thought that there was something a little off in his recruitment. He is probably a one and done, so guess going to the tournament might not have been a priority.

If (and that's a big IF) there was something wonky about his recruitment, the assistant coach who acted as the bagman for the (alleged) payments needs to be the favorite for the "Biggest waste of booster cash" 2014 award.

There's tons of bad basketball around, Dave Rice isn't the only practitioner.

For instance last night, Mizzou is awful and so is Kentucky except Kentucky's awful is 7 feet tall.

I don't know why people are making a big deal out of Dave Rice or the UNLV program right now. The majority of the team are freshmen, I would say their record is pretty darn good considering this. They nearly won in Laramie and the 9pts they lost by last night in overtime doesn't show how close that game really was.

Okonobah, Wood, and Vaughn trio has no business losing to Nevada (6-9), Boise State (missing their best player), and almost losing to San Jose State (2-14). Don't you remember the RV recruitment, this team was gonna ride its youth and prostyle offense to a deep NCAA run. They are terribly coached.

Vaughn was throwing a temper tantrum for the last 5 minutes of the game and the overtime it was hilarious.

"I'm an ISU fan. The first team I watch is Iowa. And I go haha when they lose. The second team I watch is UNLV. And I go haha when lose. The third team is I watch is Colorado St. And I go haha when they lose.

The fourth team I watch ISU. I feel sad when they lose. Except in football, where I don't care if they lose anymore."

You clearly didn't watch the game....Boise wasn't without their best player. He dropped 28 on UNLV and played 41 minutes. Give this team some time they are freshmen, it's not where you start but where you finish.

When you are 10-7 and 1-3 in the MWC, it most certainly matters where you start. Unless they go on a huge run (unlikely), they will have to win the conference tournament to make the NCAA tournament.

ISU fan roots for CSU.

The season is half-over. Barring a conference tournament championship UNLV is finishing in the NIT at best.

I watched UNLV play at Kansas and their problem is their head coach. They do not run anything that resembles a set offense. It was like watching an AAU game where a guy tries to break down his defender, gets a shot up on the rim and then their two big guys go chase offensive boards. With a good coach that knows how to teach offense that team would be excellent.

Boise was without their second best player and the backup for that player and would have beat UNLV handily with them. You are right that they will have to win the conference tourney to make the Dance. They have a 5th year senior transfer at point guard, two projected lottery picks and some other 4 star recruits and look very, very bad. No one does less with more than Dave Rice. But he is an amazing recruiter.
