UNI

Except last year's game drew a JTS record crowd over 55,000. This was in addition to selling a record amount of season tickets prior to last season.

Why not play this game? It's good for the fans of both teams. If we win, it counts towards our bowl eligibility each year, unlike year's past.

Totally agree. UNI is a good game for both schools. We are about guaranteed a sellout, and they make some good coin. Plus they are better than some of those really crappy D1 teams that we would schedule in their place.

I want UNI on our schedule, but I hope GC never lets them play us as close as they did last year. I am sick of tired of that crap, I want to start stomping teams like UNI!!

I'm not sure how their line is looking this year, but UNI's quarterback has a knack for hitting his receivers and he handles pressure very well. He doesn't look that athletic, but the guys good.

Hope we win, but as thin as we are, who knows....

I have to think that Pollard will do away with the UNI series very soon. Seriously, why do we continue to play them? There is absolutely nothing to gain on ISU's part.

In the past, this game was a guaranteed payday for us. Now, with season ticket sales on the rise and looking to the future, it makes sense to dump UNI for a team from a lower level conference.

Actually, the game is a payday for UNI.

In terms of playing them, I would rather give them the money than any other 1 AA team that we could play. Plus you have to remember that the 1 AA games count now, so UNI was an easier way to get to 6 wins. Also, it's not UNI's fault that we have been bad, losing twice in the 90's, and, probably, should have lost last year.

All they have to do is look at the game tape. We drove up and down the field at will/ The couldnt stop our passing game, but we sure as hell could. I seem to remember countless turnovers and drive ending penalties. Shore up the defense and hold onto the ball and we win easily.

UNI is a very good 1AA team. 1st year coaches have something to prove and will stop at nthing to show that they were the right choice. I think GC can make a big splash this year solely on the fact we have 2 of ISU's greatest offensve players ever back, and a potential all american LB. Mrs. Chizik may not see Gene except on game days.

Yea, let's play Montana instead. Then we can brag to everyone how we ran up 50 points in our opener, then go 2-6 in conference play because we're so good. :rolleyes5cz:

The only times UNI has come close to beating us or has beat us was when we were literally one of the WORST teams in D1 and they were one of the best in 1AA. Plus they have a chip on their shoulder. I have a decent feeling that UNI won't be too big of deal this year. I actually use that game as a measuring stick for the rest of the season. If we lose or come close to losing then the season is pretty much done. Look at the history (some exceptions will probably apply)
I would like to get back to the point where we were beating them 45-0 by the 3rd quarter, but it will take some time.

That was funny...
That is one of the reasons I wanted into the B10.
Beat a 1AA, Horrible ISU team at home (Barely), squeak out a crazy overtime game at a bad syracuse, sqeaked by a Northern Illinois team beat a bad Illinois team and beat Purdue.
Then they get to go play the defending National champions in Texas.
If we went 6-6 we might not even get to go to a bowl

Don't start sounding like EIU when they want to drop us. UNI is a good comptitive game, at home that packs the Jack. If they start giving us trouble, schedule the game for 1:00 so our better depth will be a factor.

UNI should not be a competitive game at all. There should be a huge difference between 1-A and 1-AA. ISU has looked pretty pathetic against them the last 2 of 3 games.

This isn't the same climate as it was 10 years ago. There are a lot of D 1 transfers playing in 1AA now. There are more good players as well.

Now a days, a top level 1AA team can beat, or at least compete well with a poor BCS school.

I guess I would rather have that happen then to have to wait to see UNI miss a field goal, then see us go 1-7 in conference....

What I meant was, if we drop UNI, which is a game that gets a big crowd, we'll replace it with another, crappier, unexciting team/game. Sure, the game would be more likely to be a blow-out, but who wants to watch that game? I for one, would be pi**ed. It's analogous to Iowa dropping us for a "tougher" opponent. We all know it would just be a bigger patsy to play.

When was the last time we were up on a team 45-0. Kansas? Tenn. Tech? Boy those are fun games.

Yeah we are all to farmiliar with UNI beating a poor BCS school and competing with them.

When did 45-0 happen? I don't ever remember ISU putting anyone away. I think you are thinking about the teams that put ISU away 45-0.

In 2001, we beat UNI 41-0, Baylor 45-0, and Kansas 49-7. We also lost to Nebraska 48-14 and K-State 42-3. At least we were consistent. :baffled5wh:

Also, in 2002, we beat Kansas 45-3, Tenn Tech 58-6, and Troy (then Troy State) 42-12. And again we lost to OU 49-3 and K-State 58-7.

Man will I miss the McCarney years.

Yeah your right if we go 6-6 we will be sitting home with KU who also cant get a whiff of a bowl bid with six wins.
