UNI over Colorado

I had no intention to get attention on what I posted. It is a legit comment. Hard to argue it at this point.
If UNI played Iowa and it was officiated like it was last night there is no way you are stopping Garza. Before everyone gets worked up, I'm not saying that the officials lost the game for ISU. Iowa was clearly better. I'm just saying when they let offensive players bowl players over and swing elbows there is no way you can defend Garza and he is going to get whatever he wants.

So, you must really be pissed about paying ULM over double what ISU paid UNI in football for a less attended game. Same goes with Mississippi Valley State or UMKC or Purdue Fort Wayne or Florida A&M, ISU paid each of them over $75,000 while not ever paying UNI a dime in basketball over the years. Also, UNI and ISU are in the same conference in wrestling so money, obviously, doesn't exchange hands there either.

You're missing two important things here - ISU would be paying roughly the same amount for a buy game against any FCS school. Perfectly happy to pay UNI to come to ISU.

In basketball, ISU didn't pay UNI. But you're ignoring the opportunity cost. But we also gave up a home game every other year. So that's a wash at best, and likely a reduction in income for ISU especially with the number of tickets ISU is now selling. If UNI wanted to take that 75k to come to Hilton like UMKC, I'm sure Pollard would happily pay it.

UNI is absolutely legit again.

Thank you and agreed on point #1.

I absolutely see your point on point #2. The whole system is structured for the P6 to play home games in Nov/Dec. I'm good with it, I get it. I've also consistently been one that's said that Iowa and Iowa State can schedule whoever they want and however they want, they owe UNI nothing and I absolutely cringe whenever a legislator (never connected with Cedar Falls or UNI) starts making a big deal about exchanging money or forcing them to play or whatever.

I will at least give Pollard credit for offering to play UNI at UNI's buy game rate ($100k). UNI just simply doesn't take many buy games (Colorado was only the 6th one that UNI has taken in Jake's 14 years). That same offer hasn't come from Iowa City.

I also just wanted to point out that that Iowa and Iowa State are in no way offering some kind of athletic welfare to UNI. UNI taking the going rate that they'd take from any other school is just part of the business. The advantage to playing Iowa State and Iowa in football is the massive reduction in travel costs to get there.

What do we mean by legit? If you mean has a legit chance to win the MVC tourney and make the tournament, agreed, but they almost did that last year. Legit as in getting an at large bid, as it stands that would be a huge long shot. If UNI goes 14-4 in the MVC, that's four bad losses right there. They've got 1 good win, Colorado. That's not an at large resume.

Completely agree on the second one. I think it's beneficial to both ISU and UNI to play the buy game for football. The home/home was not beneficial in basketball and doesn't happen anymore. Nobody owes anybody anything.

For an At Large, it would have to be 16-2 and to get to Sunday in StL. UNI still has enough 'name' that they wouldn't be left out at 29-4 even if the resume fell apart on them.

The biggest thing is that this start helps with seeding if they win in StL. So much easier to play from the 12 line than the 15 line.

UNI should start getting votes for the top 25 this week and keep moving up and get ranked at some point which will put eyes on them by committee and also get them exposure nationally. At that point an at large is very possible.

Considering 25th is on 42. Yes
UNI is a solid team this year and proved that with winning @ Colorado, but UNI also has played a bunch of nobodies outside of WVU and Colorado.. South Carolina, although a P5 school, is not very good. So credit to UNI for their win against CU and for not losing against the bad teams but I'm not going to praise them when they only have to play 1 good team every two weeks.
