The kicker's uncle sat behind us at the game. He said his nephew (the kicker) contacted Iowa state coaches and asked to walk but was told no they had their guys already.

Should've known it'd be a dogfight w/ FCS team starting a freshman QB and a backup place-kicker. On paper, that seems like an ideal situation...

A QB with no film who scrambles is usually worrisome especially if they're just out there doing what they can with no baring on the season.

But yeah in ISU lore, backups are bad.

Did you look at any of the other comments that were being made about him in the game thread? Did you go to any game thread ever last season? The same thing I said was echoed throughout the gdt and this thread here.

Edit: and to add onto it, he missed a chip shot. It wasn’t some incredibly hard kick that college kickers regularly struggle with. He had the exact same issue last season

There is a difference between saying he didn’t perform and making an ignorant statement mocking his last name.

What if his family were on here reading that? It was a **** thing to say and you are an ******* for trying to defend it.

Plenty of people were upset with the miss, including me, but nothing made it appropriate to make fun of his last name. Don't be a 6th grade bully.

I think we now realize how valuable Chris Francis was for us the last few years even though he just did kick offs. Many times a touch back or at least at the goal line where they really had to work to get out to the 25.

The UNI kid had a great day kicking FGs. Will he do it next week and the rest of the year? We will have to wait and find out. I would say the same for the UNI QB. He made a lot of plays by a couple inches here and there. Not sure that he can maintain that.

Iowa has the Shudak kid from Western Iowa. I assume he is the son of a fine ISU kicker of the old days--Jeff Shudak

ISU has lost so many recruits to Iowa from Central and Western Iowa the last 40 years. It's sickening.
