UNI - ISU Broadcast

Yes, Bridget is a great player but no motion and no flow in the offense could be that she is trying to it all. She reminds me off Georges Niang and when the men's team two seasons ago came down the floor passed the ball to him and then he tried to score. If we run a one player does all kind of offense then we will be in sad shape in the Big 12. We have to pass the ball and run some kind of offense. Oh yes, a rebound would be good too. The Sisters got out rebounded by a much smaller team and out played by a team filled with Iowa players that weren't good enough for the Iowa State Way. Don't bring in the freshman excuse either because they had freshman too. It should have been a win by over 20. VERY SAD...

Rebounds ISU 38 UNI 35 but we could have done better. As to the second point I do believe that the in state games do have some of that point. The Iowa girls on the team take this game to heart. As to freshman playing our 3 played 73 minutes (and add our 4th new player make that 92 min.s), UNI's 3 that played put in 14. To sum it up we make our free throws we win, we will struggle these first few games as our 4 new players get in the flow of his level of basketball. I will wait till we get through the pre-season before I throw this team under the bus.

Reminds of me how the announcers were playing up the "Iowaness" of the game and how these kids played each other in HS etc. Maybe so in the past but we currently have only one Iowan on the team so that Iowaness was pretty much on the Panther team.

I did agree with their comments that it's a good series for the fans, lots of ISU folks in the stands. I have to say, considering they are the homers, the TV team did do a very good job. Pretty fair and being Iowa local they actually know our team better than most opponent announcers.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant 907.

I don't put much stock in these in state games. Part of the problem is Bridget is trying to do too much herself. She is'not point guard.
I am so sure that she is trying to do too much. My impression is that she is working with her teammates as best she can, but when nothing is working, then she tries to do it all herself. If you look at her play in past years, she is anything but a ball hog or a walking ball of ego. She is only doing what she is doing because that is all that is working.

I'm not criticizing her. It's clearly what has been asked of her, and she was visibly pressing. But when defenses key in on her with double and triple teams, its not going to go well. Same thing happened to Hallie.

It has happened all three games so far which is why at this time she leads the team in assists so that is the reason the open player MUST work to get the shot when she gets them the ball.

I think (hope) this will end up working it's way out better than Hallie's senior year when she was essentially a small forward who was forced into the paint because of roster deficiency. We have a full roster right now with potential at all positions. Right now people are popping in and out of the lineup every few minutes...going to take some time to develop some play of continuity with that going on. Also been practicing with Durr have a big role and all of a sudden she is out with an injury. Going to take more than a single game to compensate for that, IMHO. We'll know more by the time conference play starts.

BTW, any buzz on how long Durr will be out? I assume since this is non-conference that they will take it conservative with her return.

My info is based on the radio pre and post game interviews with BF from the UNI game. He said that initially they hoped to get her back on Monday for the home game. but, that things have not progressed the way it was hoped and that now they hope she can play during the Bahamas trip but, she'll need to build her minutes back up. However, he did confirm that it's a hyper extension with a deep bone bruise and nothing worse.

Brittany Lange and U of Nebraska Omaha beat UNI this week. I think Brittany is doing a good job there. I’d love to see us scheduling a game against UNO.
