UNI game....

We should win, but it will be another tough hard fought rivalry game just like Iowa and UNI is certainly capable of pulling the upset.

Funny, after a game like last night, everyone seems to be showing other schools a little bit more respect before we play 'em. That is the sign of a classic fan base. (Like us) The only thing I can offer is that Marcus Paige didn't play in that UNI game, and UNI also lost @ Richmond 82-67 last Saturday. Richmond is (5-3)

Go Cyclones!
I was worried about the UNI even before the Iowa game last night. UNI always plays us tough. They are always successful in slowing down the game which KILLS us. Jacobsen is also a hell of a coach. They may not have the most talent but they excel in the fundamentals of the game.

Not to be too over-confident, but I think we'll be fine. I really like this new coach of ours.

Worried? Scared? I've never understood when a fan uses these adjectives. Good grief. How about, "I think we need to make sure we shut down x" or "This game will hinge on so and so's ability to get to the rim." Saying you're scared our worried about a game is dumb. Have some balls and quite crawling into a corner before the game even starts. That's how you lose.

Control our turnovers and we'll be fine.

Pitch it away and give up out of position threes like Thursday and we'll be fighting for the win in the last couple of minutes.

They must still be hung over from football. I have a feeling we come out on fire and crush the panthers.

This is the first game at the Big 4 classic that I actually wish I was there for. It will be ISU fans vs a bunch of Iowa fans cheering during the game. We know they can't hang in that department but it's a different dynamic with a 50/50 or so split.

UNI will give ISU its absolute best shot. We have already seen that they can be pretty effective at their best. Add in the fact that they (1) are extremely well coached and (2) we may have a few awkward minutes on the floor trying to work Burton into the rotation, and it could be a real tricky spot. Hope the guys come ready to play!

Seems weird and maybe completely wrong, but I feel better about this game now, than if we would have rolled Iowa and Pine Bluff coming into the game.

I agree, we have played a some grinder games, Illinois, and Colorado, we have played from behind Iowa... I am a lot more comfortable then past years, I just really hope the fanbase does not change to meltdown after 1 lose, because realistically we can't will and won't win every game.

IMO that close win against Iowa is just what this team needed to get their heads out their @#%. I'm guessing with Burton being eligible now our big men play a little less scared.

I don't think they have anyone of the caliber of Uthoff and the difference Thursday was him in the first half and ISU's 12 TO's. We keep the ball in the right people's hands and I see a comfortable win. But Jacobsen will try to make it painful to watch.

Hopefully, the Iowa game is an eye opener that our halfcourt defense needs to be more consistent and guys have to play physical. In the first half last night, we struggled to fight through screens and just weren't very physical on defense.. IMO part of the issue is guys like Niang, Nader and McKay are playing to avoid foul trouble- so they have lost some aggressiveness As a team we need to feel comfortable that if Nader, Niang or McKay get in foul trouble we can still play at a high level.

Burton should help considerably if he can be a steady contributor. We also need to be confident that our shorter lineup with Morris, Long, Thomas and Nader can compete against the likes of KU, OU and Texas.

I like our chances against UNI because the don't have a guy who can matchup against McKay and I think Monte can play tough D against Washpun

Totally agree. I don't know what it is but these players for years haven't gotten around screens very well. I was taught to always go around screener on top and the player guarding the screener would step out to help until we got over and caught up. I see us go under too many times. You are right they need to be a lot more physical and fight thru those screens up top.

i expect a very tough game. UNI plays hard, is well-coached, and they play together as a team. they have three iowans plus thomas' aau buddy in jesperson. that's four guys who'll really want to beat us. washpun is incredibly quick and athletic and he took over against UNC. and they have guys who can shoot.

our perimeter D is so shaky - nader, niang, naz etc have gone to sleep plenty of times and given up open 3's. that's a recipe for disaster against UNI.

I don't think fans crawling into a corner has much to do with the outcome.

The real season begins with that game.

Better team than Iowa and we'll have a full strength roster.

Yes I agree re full strength roster...Deonte Burton being available will really help against a deliberate attack employed by UNI...........Also the reduced shot clock to 30 seconds will also help us............

Go Cyclones

I'll be there. Expecting a huge slam dunk from Deonte Burton and an Iowa State victory.

Go Clones
