Well, just found out that my place of work will be shutting down. My program will still be here into 2012 when it will move to a different location.
anyone know of a job opening for a project engineer with 5-7 years experience?

I really feel bad for the guys in their 50's who have been there for 20+ years.

Anyone else been through this lately?

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you'll be able to find another job quickly, do you have until 2012 to do so?

Also, "Project Engineer" is pretty vague. What line of work are you in, specifically? I live in the Twin Cities too, so if you want to grab coffee sometime, PM me. Maybe I can learn a little more about you and see if any of my clients/contacts are looking for someone with your experience/qualifications.

Always happy to help a fellow Cyclone any time I can.

What type of project engineering? Feel free to email me at [email protected] and we can talk. The location I work at has job openings but more in the Software and Electronics industry. Project/Program managment skills are needed for many of the hardware programs we develop.

I feel for you on this one. My job is moving to Detroit early/middle next year as a part of the 2005 BRAC decision (civilian employee of the Army). At least I get to follow my job up to Detroit if I can't find a new one between now and March 1...

You wouldn't happen to work at Lockheed, would you?

Sorry, should have been a bit more specific. Right now I'm working in Production Operations as a Manufacturing Project Manager.
I'm hoping to stay in the Minneapolis area because I have a son with special needs and wuld really prefer not to have to move the family and lose the support network.
