UNC it is.

I think there will be some fall-out here in Ames - in the gym today, it was kinda awkward with the long faces and stunned looks. HB and his mom knew that by inviting the "general public" the audience would be 90% Cyclone fans. I think the fans who showed up today feel used.
The big show in in the gym (as opposed to in the library, for example), plus the Skype thing proves one thing: HB has an ego - a real big one...

This.

My biggest hope now is that Roy Williams bolts for the NBA after this season. No reason for him to do it, but would be, frankly, awesome.

As an Ames High grad, I will always wish him well. He seems like a great kid, but I do hope that UNC loses every game for the next decade.

I hope that he goes pro after one season, so I can root for him again.

hey, look a the bright side everyone now we dont have to spend a ton of money on AHS games.:wideeyed:

Perspective.

Am I disappointed? Yes, very much so. But you have to see HB for what he is: a 17-year-old kid. He may be more well-spoken and mature than the typical 17-year-old, but he's still 17. It's difficult to look beyond the flash and glamor of What Is Right Now (UNC) and see What Could Be (ISU). Does Coach feel used? Do the guys on the team feel used? Those are the ones who are personally impacted by HB's decision, not random yahoos on a message board.

Shirley has done a wonderful job raising a thoughtful young man, and I'm sure it was an agonizing decision for him, but in the end, he has to do what he feels is best for him and the personal goals he set out for himself. And that is at UNC. Maybe we were in it until the very last minute, we'll never know. That's the hardest thing to swallow - we'll never really know how close we were, despite what people say one way or the other.

Perspective. It hurts, but we'll get over it. We're Cyclone fans.

I dont think most have a problem with the fact that he went to UNC (or at least its not the biggest problem). Its the WAY he did it. Bad move to invite a crowd that would be 90% cyclone fans.

Congrats to HB and UNC!

They made a tough run at Harrison.

IF the mods banned everyone who posted really rediculous comments from tonight on... that would be ok. Im sure their contributons to CF wont be missed.

No one is wishing him bodily harm....just losing seasons and lack of success on the court. What is wrong with that?

You guys saying he shouldn't have done a public announcement are a joke. Every other big prospect gets one, why shouldn't he? As for using the facilities, who cares. It was part of our recruitment of him and it didn't work. Apparently UNC was able to do it better.

You guys act like we are entitled to him, when we were probably the lowest on his list all along. This board is hilarious.

I've thought for a while now HB had a very large ego (was always scared of saying in case he ever saw the post). You saw it today. Frankly I've never bought this "humble" 'yes, sir' crap. All of that is a game to market himself..plain and simple.

HB is the ultimate self marketing machine and you can see it in what he did today.

This is right on.

He knew he was going to UNC. When you live in Ames, you can still televise it, but you've gotta use a private setting where ISU fans can't come to get kicked where it counts in person, again. Then, when you actually announce your decision, you should man up and say it, instead of let a 10 foot picture of Roy Williams' face do your talking for you. Congrats man, you handled it well until the final week. Probably better than most of us could have, I guess.
