UCLA...

On a related note, who in their right mind would want to go to USC over UCLA? I have never understood how UCLA could be so bad. They are in a wonderful area with unreal scenery compared to USC in the middle of the hood... They play in the Rose Bowl and USC plays in the run down coliseum... I just don't get it.

UCLA is a 5 point underdog against 0-2 Oregon State this week. That's the same Oregon State team that lost to Sacramento State. In fact, Oregon State is the only team Sacramento State has beaten this year. The Hornets have a 35-14 loss to Southern Utah and a 49-17 loss to Weber State.

All that said, I do believe Texas is better than they were last year. It will be a tough game, but we have a good chance.

I do not believe we have seen alot of what Texas will be this year yet. They have a freshman starting QB that put up alot of yds and pts on a poor UCLA D. It will be very interesting to see what he is capable of against a very experienced ISU D. Hoping we get a similar effort of our d line that we have gotten against Texas last year also Iowa and UCONN, and I think we will see it although I have not done alot of digging on Texas' O line....

Can someone help me out here?

Actually Case McCoy hasn't really put up that many yards or points. He was 12/14 for 168 yards and 2 TDs against UCLA. Case's best feature so far is his completion percentage. He hasn't been asked to do much at all yet. Texas killed UCLA running the football. Then Case completed passes when UCLA sold out to stop the run. One of Case's longest throws should have been intercepted but was instead tip right to the Texas reciever.

The kid is still unproven in my mind. UCLAs defense is just bad. ISUs is not.

Maybe they can schedule a game here soon. It could be recorded and sent out to every high school football coach in America with the specific instructions to show it to every player on their team that doesn't think they are good enough to play D-1 college football as motivation.... :biglaugh:

I forgot about Western Kentucky too. The definitely need to be involved in this game too, if you're an FBS team and you lose to Indiana St 44-16, you might need to rethink what level you play at.

Scenery? It's all about the pay grade you are willing to accept.

I think they should get a free pass for a few more years. Western Kentucky has only been an FBS team for 2 years now maybe?? That being said... don't move up until you can compete.

The thing is, weren't they considered a top FCS team before they made the jump?

RE: Settling on McCoy as the starter is going to help them a ton, imo.

Saw this game on TV.

Texas receivers were OPEN all day. McCoy was very elusive, escaping the pass rush. He will give us FITS. (Wish Gilbert was playing again.)

We have not come close to scoring 50+ points, on an away game.

Relax. The UCLA D is about as good at containing offenses as the banks of the Missouri River were at containing flood water this summer. They had absolutely no chance. The Texas offense has talent no doubt but they had talent last year too and what were their results?

Take UT's results up to this point and forget about them. Texas has not played a quality opponent yet.
