Their athletic director, Danny White, said: "If you take the long view of the history of college football, there's an awful lot of national championships being claimed by universities that didn't accomplish what we accomplished this year in those respective seasons, so we feel we're more than justified to claim our first national championship, and we think it'll be the first of many. I don't think our kids should be penalized because we weren't respected by the College Football Playoff committee, nor should our program be penalized because we weren't around 20 or 30 years ago when people were claiming national championships left and right."

Good team sure but NC, probably not, good reason to expand the playoffs though.

I love it. I was thinking about this the other day, but what other division in any level of football is treated the way G5's are? Every other level of football a team can say at the beginning of the year "we can win a championship". G5 schools have literally no shot the way the playoff setup is today. I would hate that

So we have Ohio State left out, an SEC championship with likely terrible ratings, and UCF claiming a championship. Nice. This should all show the powers that be their stupidity and perhaps push a logical expansion and structure.

This part is false. Since 1988, besides the 1997 UNL Cornhuskers/UM Wolverines when has there not been vast agreement on the champion?

That said, UCF can say they beat Auburn but won't get a chance to play the team Auburn beat...

It is a shame that they don't get their chance. They may actually be the best team this year.

Still think playoff should be at least 1 school from SEC, Big 12, Big 10, PAC, ACC & an at large. #1 & #2 seed get byes.
