Tyrese Hunter PG '21 - Committed!

I would argue Royce White was toxic based on the stories I’ve heard from people within the program.

Having a coaching staff that understands how to build a team around that toxicity is what’s important, I.e. recruiting guys you know you can work with and will fit in your system.

Prohm had no clue how to work with Lard or Wig and the only reason we think he knew how to work with THT is because THT started all season despite Wigginton being the better player.

If you don't think part of being a high level CBB coach is figuring out a way to mesh egos, you are crazy. That's part of the reason they are paid what they are paid, and that's part of what makes a good coach. Take kids from different backgrounds with different motivators, find commonality and figure out how to make them play together.

uhh THT is turning into a factor for the Lakers. Where's Wigginton?

Anybody watch the Last Dance? I know that is the pros but MJ has a huge ego but that made his teammates better even if it wasn't always what made them comfortable.

The top basketball talent is going to have egos. You need to be able to manage it.

only one that was toxic was Lard. the only way THT and Wigginton have put us in this situation is by not staying longer.
With respect, I disagree. While THT and Wigginton did not vocally cause issues, they almost always, Lindell more so in year 2 than in year 1, had negative body language. That 18-19 team, at least in the latter part of that season, did not look like they liked each other or were having any kind of fun out there.

We’re using Talen’s record in the NBA to say he was a better college player? He averaged 9.8 points a game in regular season big 12 play off 9.5 shot attempts a game.

Wigginton was a much better college player than THT.

And that isn’t a knock on THT. Everyone knew it was his freakish potential, that we see now, that was going to make him a good NBA player. It wasn’t what he did at Iowa State.

I know a few people who played in MiLB and NFL training camps.

My friend went to an MiLB team and he told me first day the coach asked them to raise their hands if they were all-state. Everyone's hands went up. Then he told them, "put your hands down because where you came from the best means nothing here. Your past means jack **** to me. Your future is all that matters starting now."

He was a baseball freak, could hit anyone. Then he fizzled out in High Single A because he didn't work hard. He told me his raw talent took him there but because of that talent he never had learn how to push himself.

I see some of that in our team.

Wigginton was the better player. The reason THT started is he has a 7’1” wingspan weighed 240 and defended the post. Wigginton would have had to replace NWB or TH in the starting lineup. That is a tough call to make.

Thats baseball. It’s barely a sport. And there’s no other sport where being able to do one thing really really really well makes all the difference (pitching).

I think I read a Pop quote once that said the hard part of being a basketball coach isn't the X's and O's and the game management. The hard part is making everybody work together when there is a lot of ego at work at a lot of money on the line, plus all the other petty jealousies (e.g., with women or cars).
