Twister Sister Summary - a quickie...

No expert here either but it is disappointing that the program hasn't been able to develop into a perennial Top 15 team with what I have to believe is a big recruiting advantage:

ATTENDANCE RANKS
2017 - #3
2016 - #3
2015 - #4
2014 - #2
2013 - #2

You've touched on the point that's bugged me for years. Not going to happen but this would be a terrific situation for the basketball equivalent of Matt Campbell. After 20 years the ship has sailed for Fennelly to do more than he has done. He built what we have but it's just never going to be more than an average of the past successes.

It' s the equivalent of a football team that regularly goes 6-6 or 7-5 and and makes a bowl with occasional years with a decent bowl. All the while never really challenging for the conference championship or breaking through as some elite team. I still watch and follow, just parked my expectations for championships and such about 10 years ago.

I was actually encouraged by last night by the fight and energy the team displayed. Could have folded more than once, but played to the end. My concern had been that this team would not learn to play with passion. Now let's work on execution.

down by 16 and came back, many teams would have folded at the down 16 in the third. I have posted before, I want to see where we stand at the end of exib. games. when your 4 new players are playing 24,26,12 & 17 minutes and only scored a total of 18 points it is a learning curve.

Oh well, on to play what looks to be a pretty bad Vanderbilt team on Saturday (SEC channel).

Vandy is 2-6. Lost to two of our opponents, Tulane and Central Michigan. Six loses but they have only played two home games and were closer when they played Syracuse (L 84-78) and Wisconsin (L in OT). Wisconsin sucks but Syracuse is a good team as you'll recall from our game with them last March when they ran us by 20.

What Bill has done to build the programbup can’t be overstated. That being said, I feel like our ceiling is higher that what we’ve been seeing the past few years.

Wasn't the comeback done with Bridget on the bench?

I guess I have a different take on this team. Like most of the posters here, I am disappointed in the record so far this year. However, the season is still very young. I will start tearing my hair out if we continue this level of play in January!

I think we took a really, really big hit when Jadda decided not to come back. Everyone here knows that a solid point guard is essential in this game, and our best candidate right now is Emily, and she has not played point much in her career here at all. She will need more time to develop - and is doing really well in my mind. But if Jadda was here, this team would have a very different record. It does show, however, how much this team depended on Jadda in the past.

I have also seen some really positive things about this team. Camber is a real surprise and if she keeps it up against Big 12 competition, we are in for a treat all season long. Emily is also a big surprise. Many nights she is our leading, or second leading, scorer. She came in highly regarded and this season is showing us what she is made of. I am very happy for her because her tenure here has not been easy, what with injuries and all. Thank heaven for Carleton. While some say she needs to share the ball more, when I attend games, players are not putting themselves in a position to get the ball. They seem very content to let Carleton do it all. Finally, we have a couple of recruits that look really, really good in my mind. But we can't expect them to be rock stars in their first year; it is a big jump from high school and club competition.

I am waiting until January before I pass judgement. In the meantime, I expect a bit more pain until the ladies settle in. Just my perspective though.

I just think the game has passed BF by.

I don't know if the game has passed him by but I think the game is caught up to him he had a really unique offensive style of the five out post that shoot threes for a long time and we're just finally seeing other women's teams in men's teams doing it I think it's so funny everybody thinks that Fred's ideas were so revolutionary when the fact that bill fennelly been doing it for 15 years he just needs to find the new thing to do

This. Keep in mind that recruiting is done based on who you expect to have returning each year, Jadda was a key part of what this team was supposed to be. Now the coaches are scrambling to reshuffle the pieces. The defense is suffering, but the biggest piece right now is getting the inside game to develop. So far our returning post hasn’t shown the growth she needs to. Our juco transfer needs to come on fast. An inside game will take the pressure off and loosen up the rest of the game.

Please provide your input - was No. 50 (Rhine) that good or was our defense that bad? She had a very accurate shot from outside (game as well as during warm-ups) and continually beat us and made us look BAD in the paint. She's only a red shirt sophomore - first real playing time!

I agree that we need to get the ball into the paint to create scoring opportunities near the rim and for kickouts. I just don't think the posts are up to it.

Our posts will never be the type of players you can throw the ball to against opposing bigs and just figure they will score one on one consistently. I think they have value in setting screens, causing switches and then offensive rebounding on smaller players. Not so much in posting up.

I would say there is more potential in getting to the paint from setting ball screens for Carleton, Durr, Johnson and backscreens to create basket cuts for Camber, Wise and Scott. Right now though there is mostly a lot of standing around - and I don't think that is on the players I think that is what they are expected to do.

She was a finalist for Miss Missouri, freshman of the year in the MVC, started a number of games before she was hurt and took a red shirt. I s a good player and it showed.

Out posts are a Junior that was #1 in Iowa, a finalist for Miss Minnesota(#1 in MN), and the #1 JUCO player in the country... and they got taken behind the woodshed by a MVC player.

That is on the coaches. You can not tell me that there is not talent there.
