Had to watch this one like many of you on tv. Just a few quick notes. Too much work left to do tonight!

Inside game is abysmal. Offensive threat is practically non-existent even when such a huge size advantage exists.

Berkhall still has weak hands and can’t hang onto the ball.

Major disappointment so far. Guess that means there is big room for improvement right?

Defense is a day late and a dollar short. Slow to adjust and cover. Gave up way too many treys and the last critical example was the game winner for Drake.

Shooting is nothing to write home about. It was miss after miss after miss at times. We had three scorers tonight - Durr with 21, Carlton with 19 (although she only hit 7 of 20 shots). and Camber with 16. Carlton is way too much of a volume shooter and at times this hurts the team. I love her play, but she either needs to hit at a higher rate or share the ball more.

Our game probably needs to make the shift to four guards or possibly five. The only valuable player on the season inside is Scott and even she disappeared tonight.

Big 2nd quarter run for Drake as ISU ended quarter on a 1-11 run. No inside presence at all. Outside shooting was cold as ice.

Great comeback in the fourth quarter behind Durr and Camber. Ricketts play at the end was terrible. Two fouls and provided Drake with the four point play. Ugh. As mentioned a good example of not moving well on defense. Final ISU shot was a Carlton chuck a shot and too early in the shot clock.

Right now this is a disjointed team with young guards and a complete lack of inside presence. Lots of work to do for this coaching staff. Especially when you consider Drake is not very good.

I'm still trying to process this one as we should NOT have lost this game.. this one is on the coaches though as the game plan was a complete mess from the outset.. the team looked completely unprepared.

We love the team and their potential. Love them each and every player. We just don't like having them set up to fail. How is it Drake (add UNI and probably U'o'I) can gel into a competitive team this far into season and we are looking for the the dry erase and white board.

I am sure every poster here with concerns will be happy to eat crow if this season ends well. I know I will. I think we are patient but there are limits.

I know this is blasphemy around here but...has any single coach at ISU the last 5-6 years got a bigger pass for having weak or mediocre teams that Bill? I mean, the program is just not in great shape. I don't claim to be a WBB expert but I do watch some games and pay attention to scores. Just seems the program is spinning it's wheels and has been for some time. I mean if the men would lose to Drake and UNI this place would be in melt down mode yet that seems to be a pretty regular event with the WBB team and nobody says anything.

1. Most of us choose not to care about WBB much. Therefore, it is easy to ignore the bad losses.

2. The program continues to make thd NCAA most years snd finish towards the top in the big 12. That’s pretty good.

Good to see you posting we hadn't heard from you in awhile I thought maybe we'd lost you

So went back and checked. NCAA tournament in every year but 16'. I guess I'll take it back, it just doesn't seem like the program is that successful but that's a pretty good track record. Only thing worth noting is that they've lost in the first round 5/6 times. Pretty terrible record in the tourney. I guess we'll take it.

-player attrition has just really been the weakness of this program for a while we just need a couple years of stability and continued good recruiting and I think the program could get back to where we'd like to see it

No expert here either but it is disappointing that the program hasn't been able to develop into a perennial Top 15 team with what I have to believe is a big recruiting advantage:

ATTENDANCE RANKS
2017 - #3
2016 - #3
2015 - #4
2014 - #2
2013 - #2

My thoughts exactly. CBF has done a remarkable job through his coaching years at ISU. He needs to evaluate himself now and realize that either he needs to get different assistant coaches in the program for a fresh start or it's time for him to step away. ISU has a great fan base in every sport but something has to give pretty soon in this program. Jamie Pollard, please read this post.

This feels a bit like that 2002-03 team when Lindsey Wilson was a senior, which was the last time we were swept by all three in-state schools (looking likely for 2017 at this point).

02-03 Wilson: 19.3 PPG, 4.8 A/G, 3.9 TO/G
17-18 Carleton: 18.3 PPG, 3.7 A/G, 4.3 TO/G

Side note: that 02-03 team had 48 blocks all season (28 games), while the 17-18 team has 35 in 6 games.

I have been saying it for a while now - the program took a bad turn when Jack "left"
Defense and Post play... hmmmm

I'm a bit concerned about Mere's development. I'm also a bit concerned that we are playing match-up zone defense against teams that are predominately outside shooting teams. IMO we should have been playing a man-to-man switching 1 through 4 against CMU and Drake, and we play BF's 2 3 zone of old, and a box and 1, which are both hard for frosh to learn quickly.
