Unbelievable. The five "leftovers" (KU, KSU, ISU, BU, Mizzou) agreed to sign over their share of CU/NU's buyout money to UT/OU/A&M.

Is this true?

OK.....I agree with giving some concessions...but that is BS. The TV deal is where the Money should come from. The money from the buyout is just that. ISU and the others lost conference members too and they should get paid for the contract violation.

Well, let's see here a one time payment of $2 mil for a yearly increase of $10 mil. Yah, I'd pretty much make that deal any day of the week.

Right. But there is a point where you have to wonder how lopsided this thing can get without destroying everything that is good about college sports.

I give this thing 5 years tops and there will be a critical mass in college sports.

Why do I get the feeling that ISU, KU, K-State, Mizzou, and Baylor agreeing to hand over the buyouts should belong in quotation marks - as in "agreed"?

Where's that increase? From what I read in that thread it may not come any sooner than 2015. WHO KNOWS IF THE CONFERENCE WILL STILL EXIST AT THAT POINT??? :realmad:

We don't know when, if ever, we will see that increase of $5-8 million. From the 2008-09 revenue numbers, we made almost $9 million from the conference, which would be raised to $14-17 million in the new deal, which DOESN'T EXIST.

Again: THE NEW TV DEAL DOESN'T EXIST.

It won't for at least 2 years (FOX), if not 5 (ESPN-ABC). Meanwhile, we get NO increase in benefits and further become subservient to Texas. I think there is a strong possibility that this conference doesn't exist in 5 years because Texas finds a better offer out there.

Bad for the soul, but it was a small and tidy investment to save our future. 2 million dollars now will be made up immediately the first year of the TexasTen. I don't like it, but what choice did we have? We were looking at decreased revenue from 7 mil to less than 3 mil. How many people proposed that we offer to join the Big 10 for a half share? That's a 10 million dollar payment, every year...

You guys have to move on before Texas comes back for your women and children. Licking the bootstraps of Texas for survival cannot be worth it. Get to a conference that appreciates you regardless of 'level' and get as far away from those muggers and that snake Beebee as you can.

I was happy about all this until I read about this screw job. I suppose we had no choice if we wanted to keep things together.

I hope JP will continue to work to try and improve our situation in the coming years with other opportunities. Texas, OU, A&M, and Beebe can all go **** themselves. I hope this works out on the athletic field as well for those schools as it has for Notre Dame and their TV deal with NBC.

ISU giving up its $$$ from Nebbie and Colorado

New TV deal doesn't start until 2015

The conference will not exist after next year.

Is C-USA any worse than this? Get out of the Big XII now! It's an abusive relationship!

I would have rather ended up in a revamped MWC than this garbage heap. Is this really happening? F'u Texas and F'u Jaime Pollard for going along with it. :realmad:

The only thing that could be classified good about this from ISU's perspective is the no penalty for walking. IF ISU were to get their better offer (i.e. the Big East) before Texas kills the conference, we could leave with no added penalty.

I have never been so disappointed in Jamie Pollard, he put his tail between his legs and was scared.
